It was terrible clock management at the end by the Saints. On the Saint's last possession, they hiked the ball with 20-25 seconds each time, and left the Browns with enough time to get close enough for the "Hail Mary" attempt.

Maximilion Pegasus - REALLY?!? Take away the Minneapolis Miracle AND the blown no-callS of defensive pass interference, and the Saints are odds-on to make the past two Super Bowls ... BUT does ANYBODY think that Roger Goodell wants Drew Brees to have a shot at beating Tommy Tantrum and the Patsies in a title game?!? FIX - FIX - FIX - FIX - FIX !!!!!!!!!!

8:22 I don't remember this because I was only about eight years old, but watching that now, the spirit of the fans, the feeling made my eyes water just a bit. I remember watching all these videos, but Jim Henderson's famous quote from that game, the cheering fans... That was absolutely just spirit lifting. Awesome video. Thank you so much for posting this.

Cool. I've been looking for this video, but this is a shorter version of the 20-30 minute one I saw. Still great. Love the faces and music playing when the Saints finally win that first playoff game.

I was born& raised in new Orleans.ine thing about our fans:LOYAL!!i reside in Florida for the time being.the amount of saints"fans"rose quickly in 2009 to. Present.no one mentioned a word when after the SB the saints went 11-5 most teams post super bowl barely get 6.curse is over.WHO DAT?!!
@major6007 жыл бұрын
Can you imagine a coach so stupid that he was going to punt when he was behind with two seconds left? The Saints were cursed by an owner named John Mecom, who knew zilch about football. Ditka's three years were so terrible that I believe he hurt his legacy as a coach. Oh, and I like the original uniforms the best.

In football when a tackler grabs one leg and does the alligator twist, which usually ends in a injury, it should be a automatic disqualification like intentional targeting. You can tackle one leg without twisting very easily and bring the runner down.

from 1967-1986 they never had a winning season. Jim Mora was the coach from 87-96. And from 87-93 the saints had 4out of their 7 total winning seaons. As far as the talent goes Bobby Herbert, Eric Martin, the dome patrol, gene atkins, toi cook, Brent Maxie, dalton hilliard, Rueben Mays, just to name a few of the notable players.

Up until we won the Super Bowl, the one play that summed up the history of this franchise was when John Carney MISSED (not blocked) an extra point, after the Saints scored on a Cal/Stanford type play against the Jags back in the early 2000s. I've been watching NFL games for nearly 45 years and that was the first and last time I have ever seen a professional place kicker straight up miss an XPT. I've seen many that were blocked, but he flat out missed it and that was back when the ball was spotted on the 3 yard line. It was unbelievable, but not surprising. I remember just shaking my head with a sarcastic laugh. /watch?v=FtW6sAcKABs As a die hard Saints fan, I've seen dozens and dozens of plays like that, where something quirky happens and we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Our history is littered with them and I've lost count of how many times they've broken my football heart. But that particular play stands out because of how improbably it was just to score the touchdown and because it killed our chance at potential birth of the playoffs. It's probably why I wept like a baby and cried tears of joy when we finally broke the curse and won the Super Bowl in the 2009/10 season. WD4L

I remember that, I'm not sure if that was really the 2001 or 02 Saints and I believe they lost their first 8 and win their last 8 straight that year and almost made the playoffs if the Rams would have missed that field goal in that game where Doug Brien who they cut that year made that field goal that kept the Saints from making the playoffs

Given what just happened in that playoff game, I'm starting to wonder. We should've won. That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen in a playoff game. 10 seconds and the game was ours if Marcus Williams makes that tackle.

Yes that was heartbreaking.everything else was in place....GB lost to the giants.so all the saints had to do was win.homefield in the NFC championship.undefeated at home.but to give up a TD in that span of time....defense was our Achilles heel.yeah I'm hoping the ravens don't make it(my best friend hates the saints,ravens fan)but I want Ed reed to get a ring(louisianian)

The other day I just put two and two together, the team's name Saints also represents voodoo Saints/Santeria. It's a cultural thing in NOLA that very little outside Louisiana would understand.
@RealGoatPrxd2 жыл бұрын
actually, the franchise started on nov 1, which is all saints day in the Roman Catholic Church.
@Jo5ue12 жыл бұрын
@@RealGoatPrxd correct... But you can't argue that Voodoo Saints are a part of it too. The first playoff game against the rams a voodoo ceremony was performed before the game. I know it's crazy, I did a deep dive and discovered a lot of things. A lot in NOLA started with the west African traditions including Jazz, food and religion. It's what they call syncretization. Vodou draws influences from a multitude of other religions and cultures, particularly Catholicism despite the counter- position between the two religions.

I was at that Browns game and the quote by Jim Henderson summed up that game best: "It is like having open heart surgery week after week after week without any anesthetic. I also remember leaving that game and there was a black cloud over the Superdome raining on us as we left the game. Buddy D opened his radio show playing Chopin's Funeral March.

Sport Magazine did an article about the Saints tryouts/first practice of their first season. They claim the Saints had a wide receiver with one leg and a blind lineman to try out for the team. History says Tampa Bay and New Orleans have curse against them, but none of them more so than Atlanta. Fifty plus years of Professional Baseball, Basketball, Football and two Hockey teams with only one (1995 World Series, Atlanta Braves against Cleveland Indians)championship that has an asterios because of baseballs strike shortened season.

Don`t say i told you so when i am right, i am from Louisiana and i hated the AINT`S for a long long time

This video is BS. For example, Mardi Gras is well after football season is over, Voodoo is part of the tourism industry, and Jazz funerals are very rare. There is also no mystery about the bad performance of the early Saints: The owner was a playboy who viewed the team as a toy or accessory. For example, his "favorite" players did not have to practice. That changed when Tom Benson bought the team in 1985 and hired a new head coach & general manager in 1986. The Saints went to the playoffs in 1987 and have been generally successful since then.

@LthrncknDshwshr I've never liked The Steelers. They got that fools gold stuff. We got the real stuff. They may have their championships, but The Steelers got no spirit. They only got a bunch of fair-weather fans. I live in the SC, and there are more Steelers and Cowboys fans here than Falcons or Panthers fans. My dad was born in New Orleans as a fan, and I was born as a fan, and the rest of our family. I hope I never have to raise a bandwagoner, even if The Saints go 1-15, the faith lives on.
