To the Baby Boom Generation that grew up on his work, CURT SWAN (1920-1996) was, is, and forever will be the DEFINITIVE Superman artist!
Over the course of his almost-three decade run on the character (1957-1986), Swan depicted many of the landmark events that became touchstones in the lives of the Superman family. His versions of familiar aspects of the character's iconography, from the scenes of a doomed Krypton to sights of Superman soaring above the Metropolis skyline, became the new icons against which ALL succeeding Superman artists are judged.

Curt Swan, my favorite artist when I was a little boy. Even as an adult he was still one of my favorites. ❤️ In my mind's eye, his Superman is the "real", the one and only Superman.

Thanks for This Tribute to Superman's #1 Artist, Curt Swan. Curt Swan's Art was, is and always will be, THE Superman Artist. EVERY Superman/Superboy (Even Batman) Cover he drew was a MUST Buy. I was ALWAYS so Disappointed when I bought that comic that had Swan's Cover and then opened up the comic and it was drawn by another artist. I wish he could of drawn EVERY Cover and stories. Thanks for this well done, well deserved tribute.

I've watched many seminars online about the Silver Age of comics from your works. It gave me a new inspiration for the works I hope to produce in my life. Both the creation of my own works and the hope of one day mantling the man of steel. Thank you for archiving and cherishing the works that came before.

I really enjoyed Swan's work on the Legion but he never liked doing it. He said there were too many heroes to draw.

Searching Wind: same reason Sekowsky never liked drawing the JLA--yet both men were consummate pros who did their jobs month in & month out; you'd never know their dislike of the subject matter by their art itself.

Julie Schwartz said that's why Sekowsky was chosen, because he was the only artist willing to take on the JLA.

THANK YOU FOR HONORING MR.SWAN HE HE ALWAYS LET INTO THE OFFICE AT 575 LEXINGTON AVE. A FEW COMIC FANS. HE DID SOME OF THE LATE BOY COMMANDO. HE SHOW HOW TO WRITE STORY LINES. ALSO GAVE US ARTWORK FOR THE 1964 COMICON TO HAND OUT FREE.
