Who doesn't love a little Custard Pie now and then?!
This tune is basically a mash up of a few old blues numbers, with a typical Zep riff.
Drop Down Mama by Sleep John Estes • Drop Down Mama - "Slee...
I Want Some Of Your Pie by Blinf Boy Fuller • Video
and Shake Em On Down by Bukka White
• Booker (Bukka) White -...
Bonzo plays a beat similar to Whole Lotta Love, with a syncopated /inverted back beat, which follows the riff - as usual ... and a lot of ghosting once again on the snare.

Spot on as usual, George. Wish Zep had done this more live. Apart from a handful of shows in early 75 it was never played. Maybe they thought it was too similar to Trampled Underfoot or Plant's voice couldn't hack it. It was the perfect song for the stripped-back 80 tour in my opinion. Would have loved to have heard Jimmy ripping up the wah-wah pedal on this one.

Oh sorry, I missed that! Went back and watched it, great work as usual. I've been spoiled by this current camera angle and closeness where we can clearly see the kick. That sounds terrible to say and I hope it doesn't come off ungrateful. I really appreciate what you're doing here.

I've been watching Bonzology for quite a while now. I'm a 59 year old that has been drumming - off and on - since I was about 13. Do you guys think Bonham (and other drummers of the era) had a clue of the impact they would have on drummers and music all these years later? Do you think Bonham knew, at age 20 when he got into Zeppelin, how good he really was? Do you think drummers like this are that good when they get started in a band and then progress and get better - or do they just "have it?" I mean do you think when Rush replaced their original drummer with Neil Peart anyone had an idea of the drummer he would become - or was he already that drummer, way back then? Things to ponder....

Chuck Flint , I’m 66 and I still remember the magic of being at their show. Is was like feeling a mystical presence when they were in the house. It was palpable. So spot on professional! I play guitar mainly, but am learning drums too of late.

Chuck Flint : I should have said shows, plural, since I saw them every time they came to Detroit. I know Plant hated Detroit since the crowd was was unruly and there were assholes lighting off fireworks when Plant was introducing some new songs off Houses of the Holy at the time. He said quote: “Now that’s really stupid! Please no more of those fireworks Did you see how I jumped!”

Westy. A couple of questions George. The Kit sounds amazing but I gotta say the snare is just on the money and how I want mine to sound. What make is kit and particularly snare? Being a LZ nutter like Terry prob helps, but how long has it taken you to dissect Bonzo’s drum parts because I never heard them so accurately played before? Not just on this track either. Your clarity, feel, dynamics are a lesson in themselves and are helping me so much. You should definitely make some drum lesson videos. A series of lessons you would get many takers at a fee. More views are so well deserved and Drumeo need to pull you in too. Sometimes a breakdown of grooves and fills are just what’s needed. What a teacher!!!! How about some endorsements for both George and Terry???????
