Growing up in the 80's this was my absolute dream bike, I remember buying freestyle magazine and instantly falling in love with this bike and wanting one soo bad, Nobody in my town had one or really could afford one, even the only bike shop in the area didnt carry it. I don't know I might get one now!!!

Back then my older cousin had a GT PERFORMER and his friend rode a General.. they were the cool kids and did some nice tricks on them. I wanted one so bad but ended up with a black dyno detour from Expedition bike shop in Watertown, wi back in '87.. those were the good ole days were we all rode bikes around town till dark w/o a care in the world and no Internet..

Stunning. The Day-Glow orange with the black details gives a killer contrast.

I thought the hot pink was the go to color for those.that orange/black took it to a new level . I'd consider my 88 master getting done that color but I think ima have C4 do my 88 master 86 green and half crome.

I bought a performer off a kid riding it down the street like it was some NEXT brand bike or something..had almost all original parts except seat and tires and sproket...this was 3 yrs ago and I still have it :) skyway mags on it too..growing up I was more DYNO fan than GT side but had mostly GT riders in my hood

That's Beautiful. My main 2 bikes as a kid was an all chrome 85/6 Hutch (I believe a Judge, but possibly a pro star, can't recall exactly) then an '86 St. Tropaz Aerolite Street Hawk which was my fave, aqua+white with all the 'fixin's' including a set of the '86 skyway street beat freestyle handlebars with the dual top bars that were so cool looking, and my friend that got 'em from me still has them and the street hawk frame in use to this day.

Love that orange!! So sick!! Best time to have had these was the 80s. I have a 94 GT Mach one in great shape I just recently bought, and last Friday I picked up a 1 owner 1998 black rainbow with the stealth mags performer!! It’s mint except for the layback seat post was bent. I bought a new post, did a wheelie and bent the new post 😂 too fat
@andyhendrickson56194 жыл бұрын
GT pedals from back in the day were exact copies of shimano dx pedals, and had steel pins. Holes were drilled into the aluminum and a few pins were pushed in. They came with a little bag of pins in case you wanted to add more pins or needed any needed replaced. Real pro models didn't have open holes near the dropouts, it looked exactly like their pro racing bike.

Boy, this triggered a load of memories. Thanks for Creating this video. I wanted one so bad as a kid. But being a adult now. Not getting it as a kid was the wise decision by my father. It would be like buying a BMW for your kids first car. We lived in the woods and there where no such thing as a skate park. I remember being 7 years old standing up on the seat and see how long I could do it before I fell. It was the bike that was made to look like a race car. Of course this was the 70s parents are working, free range childhood. a freaking neighbor told on me. And was told that was not the way to ride a bike and I had to stop I would get hurt. Now look at the money people are making Riding bikes. In the 80s I had never been skiing. I live in Georgia. Barley see snow. I was standing up on those old two bladed wooden ones. Someone out there may have already been snow boarding but I didn't no about either one. I feel like I created both sports. Remember no cable, no magazines. I just did what made me feel good because life was boring. I was told to stop every time. No one is going to tell me to stop anymore except GOD. Getting my grove back. This world has taken enough from me. TICK TOCK.

Sick asf! I noticed 2 things,how come you didnt use the holes in the forks for the cable routing and the ogk mags are facing the wrong way,lol.. I would had the fold up pegs in the fold the complete the build,not rhe gt stamped ones cause they are $200 plus depending abviously. I ordered a 2021 gt pro performer 20 inch in white and adding skyways tuffII's to it. I had many perfomers growing up btw.

I'm confused with skyway tuff wheels? I thought the mags that had that forward spin to em were made by peregrine?

Yes, you are right, but the peregrine sport mags had 5 spokes and those on this bike are 6 spoke skyway mags which are on the market since a few years.
@skorpiolovesmith4 жыл бұрын
kkdii954 954 actually those are the Japanese ogk mags

The performer was always the less expensive model, never had fully welded bracing just a little piece that went across the chain stays or seat stays to mount a brake. The protour was full 4130 and basically the bmx racing bike back half with some stuff to help with tricks like extra room between the downtube and platform under the seat. So a pro freestyle tour and a pro freestyle tour team were the same bike frame, the team came as a complete bike with gt branded profile 3 piece cranks. I still have my dan's comp protour frame with albes parts like nankai pro freecoaster hub and profile cranks. No 990 mounts or 1/4 think dropouts. I tried to sell the whole thing back in the early 2000's for a couple hundred bucks but no takers. It hung out in my Moms attic for a long while and recently I got it back to battle ready status with new tires/tubes/chain/grips and learned how to adjust the rear hub with the help of youtube videos.

I have a baby blue pro performer that my grandparents got me when I was little for $1.00 at a yard sale. When I first rode it the original white front tire tube popped when I popped it up in the air for a second. I had to throw away the tires cause they were shredded and the grips. I spray painted it black cause it looked like it said princess instead of performer lol.
