We are still waiting for more official news, but I am really looking forward to the visuals and fantasy of it all. This is my version of Halle Bailey as Ariel, and I hope you guys enjoy her! I really love how she turned out (even though it took longer than usual lol). Also, yes, I threw her in a tank, and that was a big mistake!

@@keylianettenerys2997 Disney didn't invent the mermaid design in the first place. The original Little Mermaid (who didn't even have a name) was only described as having a "clear complexion, blue eyes and a tail." And the original author, H.C. Anderson, was a pretty progressive writer for his time, so I'm sure he wouldn't have minded a change in skin color anyways; I'd imagine he'd be more irritated by Disney changing the entire storyline in their first movie.

Unpopular Opinion: The pink dress is perfect because it showcases the awkwardness of Ariel’s situation and further emphasizes how out of her element she is. The dress doesn’t suit her just as much as she doesn’t suit being on land.

They had reasons for it they did her hair more than once she wanted to keep her locs and they didn’t want to damage her hair so they did it the healthiest they could and wanted to flatter her skin tone I can’t say I don’t wish it would have happened but as a hairstylist I see why they went that route I also think part of it was to work with the setting and how they were making the movie maybe

Her outfit looked a little similar to morticia addams outfit but with a red gem, aqua green eye shadow, long violet purple hair, magenta eyes, & a black crown. Fun fact: mermaids only have wrinkly tails when they're fry. As they grow up & form their humanoid upper body their tail smooths out & has a more human skin look. The whole process of a mermaid coming to full form takes about 45 years(lol so actually Ariel is in her early 60's 😹)

I agree. It was difficult as a kid not seeing dolls or princesses that looked like me. It almost brings me to tears. Ariel was abc still is my favorite! He did a beautiful job!!!

Personally, I like the mint/seafoam/teal version you see in Disney Princess brand stuff now. But that's totally a preference, and there's nothing wrong with the pink dress

Don't worry, Hex. You're definitely not alone in your love for her OG pink ballgown. As much as I adore her new green & purple gown, the pink one will always be special to me. Personally, I think people would like it a lot more if the main color was a coral-y peach (or just pastel peach to contrast with her hair's fiery red tone) and the white sections were opalescent.

@@auritaescalaw5198 I got this info from google but the “Dreads” hairstyle still has negative implications because of its slave trade history and may imply an unkempt hair while locs are more of cultural identity as it is a hair grooming technique belonging to those of African descent. So basically if someone calls them dreads they are calling them dirty and unkempt

@@Bajitangerine03 that Information is completely wrong. As someone with naturally curly hair that is now 3 months into my Loc journey. Dreads(locs) are not braids. Braids are braids. locs and braids are 2 different protective styles and for you to say locs aren’t your real hair once again please get the information right before trying to educate someone. Locs are dreadlocks and both names means the same thing

She wasn’t a loc-tician just because she knows about hair doesn’t mean she knows how to maintain locs. And if you didn’t see what you wrote the first thing you said was dreads are braids so I got that info from you. Now you can go and edit it out but I already have what you said. YOU said dreads are braids

@@Bajitangerine03 I’m not invalidating anything. You felt the need to put that info into the convo not me. So don’t get offended if I don’t think you are based on what you said. And you forgetting the usually part means nothing you are still wrong . I have locs not braids. They put braids for faux locs but for real locs that grow out your head no they aren’t braids. Braids are once again a different protective style. Locs are if anything twists that have to keep getting re-twisted.

Gah, the tinsel effect is SO GOOD, it looks absolutely gorgeous and astoundingly natural somehow??? Extremely creative, and the method to curl it and wrap it around is so smart. Adore it.

She looks beautiful. My one gripe with Halle Bailey's version of Ariel is that I don't like the red they chose for her hair, it washes her out and in many shots it looks like it blends into her skin. The red you chose here or a garnet red or a dark red rose would've looked so nice with her skin tone.

@@ItsHavender_ yeah, at least pick a red that looks nice on her. I saw a video where Glen Keane, the head animator of Ariel, explained they chose the iconic red hair because it looked good with the green tail and it still maintained a nice color in areas that were dark and had a lot of shading.

I have been watching hextian for many years now and I must say.. this doll is just insanely beautiful. I was just mesmerized by the process and how incredibly accurate it actually looks to Halle Bailey ❤️❤️😍 this one beat the Venus Aphrodite doll for me. Just wow.

She teaches little girls that they can actually achieve their goals in life. No matter how big they are. That hard work will get you to your dreams. @@St0ner.b0ner99 I understand that other than Elena of Avalor there aren't many, but my thing with Tiana was as young as I was i didn't dream of owning anything and I definitely didn't understand why she didn't want to have fun and make music. I also didn't understand the ending because she didn't need Naveen to get the restaurant. My favorite princess was Mulan, I always looked up to Pocahontas being part Blackfoot and my favorite Disney movie was Aladdin.

Can we just appreciate how much work Hextian puts into the dolls? Hand-placing 100's--sorry--1,000's of scales? Immaculate. And the best part is, is that they're doing it all for us (and for their collection, but that's besides the point). And it's not just with this one, but with all of them. They truly put love into their work and I'll be one of the first to say that I appreciate it. Te tensil on Ariel's hair is a nice touch! It looks like she just rose out of the water. The glistening on her hair gives it a kind of a wet look.

Flounder is actually a blue angel fish! He's simply named after a different species of fish. Whilst Sebastian is a hermit crab! The fact you chose a rock crab (dungeness crab) for his base is hilarious and honestly amazing. I feel like adding the tinsel to the hair gave her not only more depth but the sensation that her hair is damp! She's definitely my favourite doll you've done so far besides princess morebucks. Keep making what you love, seeing your dolls drastic changes from their start to finish is always the best. May the fates be on your side Hex, you're a goddess. 😌🤌🏼
