This week I finally finished up my bed frame and storage bins! It took a lot of trial and error mainly because I wasn't sure what I wanted to go where. I strongly recommend planning ahead as much as possible!
Thanks for watching!

I've seen many different build videos and yours are some of the best I've seen. They are just long enough and you show just enough of the process that I really understand what you're doing but it doesn't get boring. The good use of music and editing is awesome as well. Great job all around.

Yo, you might want to put plastic or metal glider 'buttons' on the bottoms of your bed pullout legs, instead of carpet. The carpet could pick up a grain of sand or small pebble that could scratch your carpet. I love the job you're doing - looks really great.

Love the time lapse on your builds. Like someone else said shows just enough of what of you're doing without getting super technical. Music was good as well. I'm probably just as excited as you are to see it finished. Great job

Love this build. I have a Ford Transit Connect too. I plan to do the same bed set up with the only difference being to divide the slider section unit into two separate free moving sliders to create more seating flexibility options. I'd need to also divide the cushion too. Visually it works out to be two mini slider couch beds (love seats?). So when the rear slider couch is out, I can sit and face forward and someone else can sit and face me. When the front slider section is out I can face to the back with the rear doors open to check out the view.

Hmm...with your newer, floating design I could forgo the drawers yet still have access to the space underneath for lithium batteries along with the propane furnace, converter/power distribution unit, and closed generator compartment under the bed/sofa in my Class B by having removable front panels. I like this way better than the awful jackknife sofa and static front panel.

I just spent the last few months building out my 2007 Transit Connect. The build quality that's going into yours is making mine look like a total bodge job! Mine's very similar in layout but I have way fewer tools and you have way better craftsmanship.

The van build is really impressive:) It does look like it will feel quite spacious when completed- a really hard feat in a small van. It will be well worth me paying the shipping fees (to me) when it's finished :) :) lol

Rub bar soap on the wood slides and it will glide smoothly.. The slide boards are attached to the face with a single screw? For safety, add a ledger strip under them for support on the back of the face frame.

If you're having issues with the pull out sticking, next time do it split in 2 as it's pulling from the end over the distance that causes the slight jam.

Why are you using a battery switch, with a VSR installed you can do away with the switch as the VSR automatically isolates the starter battery This means that when you are driving you are charging both but when stopped nothing bleeds power from the starter.

Just thought I'd mention in case you didn't know, batteries need to be vented to the outside as they can emit gasses as they charge.

Think the slats are too wide making the voids larger. Depending on what you put on top as a mattress (thickness) might mean you'll feel the timber or it be to soft. When you extend the bed there's no support on the slats which might mean it will break if your weight is over one slat. Looks good thought, hopefully I'm wrong. Love the colours you chose.

Hi great job on the bed. I just saw a video the other day of someone using a wax to finish their woodwork. I was wondering if that would help with your bed sliding out better and less friction? I am repurposing a couch I have for my bed as I am lacking in the carpentry skills, otherwise I would love to build a bed like yours.

Amazing build! I have the exact cargo van. Are you concerned about the weight of the vehicle after it's fully loaded? I believe they are made to carry 1,400 pounds, and with just 138 horses, the transmission tends to work extra hard and from my experience at 110,000 miles I was forced to replace mine. However, I love my van and think it's one of the more versatile vehicles out there. Will you be adding a back up camera?
@Josh_Oakes

I am actually going to be getting a total weight soon so I'll be sire to include that in one of my videos! Thats a good point! I don't plan to add a back up camera, I have some sensors that beep and they get me by just fine!

Frankie On The Road i don't much about your scenario but i random thought i had was depending on how much you need to bed to come out you could have maybe 3 2 feet long planks of wood that are hinged in a way that they fold out. Attach legs to the planks then repeat this 3 times so you have 3 sets of folding supports with legs on them. Attach the folding supports to the Head rest and foot rest. Then you should have an extending bed frame. (This is sort of half baked. I have no real experience doing things like this. May take some creativity on your part.)

Nice video. Is there a reason you made your bed so low? If you made it higher you could get more cabinet space. Also I like pull outs or sliding drawers. You lost egress on the left side of the van, so you could use the entire left wall for storage, then use the left cargo door for access to the back of the wall cabinet. With the bed extended and the full cabinet on the right you will get claustphobia, as you need room to move about. Your kitchen should be one unit with pull outs. That way you will have room to mount a TV and media center and desk. Remember your space must be used at least in three different scenarios. There is so much wasted space currently. I like how you work, so hopefully my ideas will help in this build.

The bed height I expect is so he doesn't bang his head on the ceiling. Remember there will be a cushion on top of that as well. In my Transit Connect I had to leave the bed height at 40cm off the floor, any higher and I couldn't sit on it without my head hitting the roof lining. Any lower and I couldn;t fit my leisure batter, water containers and gas locker underneath.I have a few extra cm to play with too as my floor is linoleum over 6mm ply not laminate over underlay over 18mm ply.
@Josh_Oakes

The kitchen cabinet will hopefully have drawers! Im working on them now haha. I made the bed that height so that I was still able to sit up right when the bed is a couch so I wouldn't touch my head on the ceiling. I appreciate the input!

The bench base is screwed to the sub floor. Not the floor of the van. I installed a 3/4 in plywood subfloor to the van floor using lag screws. From there you can anchor things in place without putting too many holes in the floor of the van. Hope that helps!
