An insightful tutorial for making a custom fabric cape without sewing. Using 26 gauge wire and fabric tac glue. Simple steps to follow. Just requires practice.. Material should be thin light easy to fold. Pleats are ironed on. The seam hold the wire on the side of the cape. Wire at the bottom is a personal choice. It will however limit the relaxed pose.
Sharing techniques to customize current action figures by painting or sculpting what is needed. Producing a figure the is either improved or just creating one from parts of other figures.

I've never been a fan of real fabrics on figures since outside of toy companies such as Hot Toys, they always look really crappy and detracts from the look of the figures themselves. However with this project here ive changed mind mind. Great job on these capes thex elevated the looks of those Superman figs. The material that you picked out for them were prefect. I'm sure you're tired of hearing this but you ate constantly out doing yourself... Happy Holidays... MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 👍👍👍

Yeah , fabric is tricky… it can make or break the look in a figure…. I went through many failed attempts…. I replaced mine because the plastic started becoming gummy. I didn’t share my completed work until I was able to find a technique that was simple to follow and produced a lasting result. Thanks for watching, please share the link

It’s synthetic material. I no longer use… its heavy….i now use a synthetic rayon that is a non- frey material from joanne’s Fabrics

Hey that mr super clear works great. And it definitely was useful when it came to priming and sealing. But it was like 16$ for a small can that was gone in like a week or two. Is that the only product you use or recommend? Also I was spraying it pretty heavily. Does it need to be heavy or just sprayed lightly.

It s expensive….. just a light spray is all that is needed to prime .. to seal an even light coat… I tried the krylon spray $7 … but it’s temperature sensitive…. If it’s not warm it will spray out a white coat…. Powder …. Not gonna work… I ruined entire project… best to pay extra and avoid starting over

Hola Si , al remover algunas capas o accesorios, dejan un hueco… lo relleno con apoxie y lo preparo para pintar igual que el resto de la espalda…unos son más sencillos que otros por los detalles

La cabeza consegui por eBay … yo la pinte , una de mis primeros trabajos El material ahora ya no uso, es un material sentetico, ahora usa algodón… tengo un vídeo actualizado sobre el tema

Yes I have a quick question if we use this as a template for our own project like for example mine. I'm wanting to remove a cape for a model kit. Make it a wired Cape but it has 3 mm holes in it how would I make the holes in it for the exact size that I need?

Sound like you’ll need a hole punch… it’s about 3mm…. There are punch / die cutting tools for leather that my be used… you’ll need to punch the holes before any sewing.. this may take some practice with scrap material…

@@InkDropCustoms okay thank you for the advice for that because I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out how to do it and I was half tempted on just taking my exacto knife cutting a cross in it and folding the edges inwards and sew it up.

@@InkDropCustoms no thank you for posting the video. Because I've been struggling trying to figure it out I know I needed at least a yard of thin red spandex material. Something that wouldn't fray and is a little bit more bendable and flexible.

This is cotton… Easy to pleat, sew … but will frey if not folded at the edges

synthetic fabrics like rayon, thin light material..... materials that don't frey at the edge easily...unfortunately not all fabric stores care the same product... just have try and see what they offer.

Guys be careful to not penetrate the sides of the cape when inserting the wire. It'll ruin the fabric. I've bought. a really poorly made custom cape before the material was good but the way the wire were put in weren't wire were poking out the cape upon unboxing that just ruins the figure.

That’s correct.. the wire needs to be rounded at the ends to keep it from tearing the material… Thanks for sharing Lloyd
