Something that's often cropped up on eBay are destroyed Time War Daleks that have just been set on fire...well here's a much more effective way of doing them!

I actually set fire to one my Day of the Daleks gold Dalek to make it look like a Dalek that had been battered and abandoned. Because my father works as an ambulance driver, his bosses let their workers take small stocks of gloves, spare blankets and hand gel home for them to use and I sprayed the Dalek on one side and set fire to it. Granted, it left me in a coughing fit for three hours but I'm happy with the end result.

+Monty ! Fair enough, again if it works for you then by all means go for it, I just think it's a bit a shame when people do that and sell them as customs, they would be worth more in their original condition, to me atleast.

This one very well could be the one from Day of the Doctor- the one that gets knocked in half by the TARDIS then reads the 'NO MORE' before it gets blown up by the other Time Lord soldier.

Im really not very good at customs the only one I made was a new series Dalek with an arm petruding out the base and I moulded it on with green wet tissue paper as that green stuff ,I also pulled out the gun and replaced it with the tissue paper Dalek goo I love your channel btw

Thanks and to be honest when it comes to customs practice is the key to learning how to make them more than anything, I've always had a natural talent for building and making things but still I didn't learn the skills I have today without years of practice. So if you want to make customs then practice is the key :)

Have you ever considered doing a Hayakawa Dalek custom from the Japanese Doctor Who books?

+Nolan McCool Someone else did ask me that recently! It is a very interesting Dalek design and one I would certainly keep in mind for future reference but as it stands it would take ALOT of planning/scratch building and parts gathering so whilst I do like the design I don't have any plans to do that one in the near future

Couldn't agree more! I linked this video in my most recent blog post since I had to deal with this issue on several Daleks that I bought in a job lot, since they were burned they were useless for any customs aside from Asylum Daleks: sacredicon.blog/2017/11/19/classic-series-dalek-customs-collection-tour-destroyed-asylum-daleks/

Thanks and yes I have been asked before and would love to make it one day but due the amount of scratch building it would need I'm still planning the best/most cost effecting way of doing it. It's a great custom idea but like many intricate customs they can take more time

+da' Terrific Trio I have already done my own custom TARDIS for my audio series and I would like to classic console room some day, but due to the size of these kinds of projects plus the time and finances needed to spend on them it's not something I have any plans to do in the near future.

Good luck! Remember don't be put off if your first customs don't turn out very good, it takes lots of practice to develop your skills and if you want good results then you've got to be willing to put the time and the work in!

I burn Daleks to make burnt Daleks.

+Harry Noke Fair enough, if that's the look you go for then that's fine, my point is that people do that and then sell them as destroyed Time War Daleks, it just seems rather pointless, they don't look destroyed, they just look burnt, given that the Daleks are made of metal, in their destroyed state they do not curl, bubble, and blacken in the same way the plastic does. Obviously the actual props aren't metal but the destroyed ones shown off at the experience have been made in such a way as to reflect the damage effects as if they were made of metal, something which simply burning a plastic figure does not replicate. I just find it a shame so many burnt Daleks are up for sale on eBay when they would have been worth far more as spares in their original condition.
