It’s looks really nice, I was thinking of doing the same but wasn’t to sure. You’ve now convinced me to do it haha

it looks really nice with a wooden frame instead of a standard plastic / metal frame.

Very nice - although a commercial fitting it is actually attractive with the silver shade. I bet many of these head to landfill when offices and shops are refurbished. I'd be tempted to keep the wood finish for a softer look. LED retrofit tubes might be worth considering.

not the landfill, but the crusher, and from there, E-waste recycling

keep the wood, it goes well with the parabolic troffer.

there is a name for these types of fixtures. : they are mostly known to as troffers. i have 1. converted to LED's. originally wasn't even electric. it was a passive skylight. the louver is made of plastic and is warped in the center after bearing the weight of a hot floodlight. that's why i have it, runs of USB with a remote and LED rave strips. looks crazy with the rave modes on because it's a conventional fixture and not a section of LED strip on the wall or something. i currently don't have it up on the ceiling but your wooden frame has given me an idea! i don't like the LED flat panel troffers that go brown in the middle yuck!
