I got a little long winded. If you just want to hear the bike, skip to 11:30. If you want to hear about the parts I've used and my future plans for it, you can watch the whole video. I also misspoke and said "Accel spark plugs". They are Accel stealth coils and they mount directly to your factory spark plugs. I will try to do some riding videos in the future.

And no need to lower Harley’s lowest sitting bike anyway. It’s already 23.5” seat height, and you wondered why you were scraping long pipes before you lowered the bike? Cmon bro, put a matching set of Metzlers on it, the softail suspension is already prefect until you start lowering a bike that doesn’t need lowered, and matching tires. The reason your front end shakes is why??? See how that Cadillac drives with Goodyear’s on the back, Firestone’s on the front, then lower your car.

Hey thanks man, really awesome you took the time to check out my bike. I just recently found your channel and I've been catching up on all your old videos. I found your post on Shade Tree Surgeon's channel. You have done a fabulous job giving that bike clean lines. The chrome remaining on the bike kind of balances out the look. You need to make some more VLOGS. I believe your VLOGS will all be pretty good. Being "long winded" is an asset when it comes to VLOGing because long spells of silence get boring fast. I have subscribed to your channel so lets see some of those riding videos in the near future. Thanks.

I appreciate your comment man. I just found Shadetree about a week ago and I've been binge watching ever since. I really like that guy's style. it's cool to watch a Vlogger that's closer to my age and appreciates cruiser style bikes.
@martyking6942

I'm probably older than both of guys together. In 1962 the first bike I rode, and it was a bike because it had two wheels, was the mighty Cushman Motor Scooter. I believe that bike made more noise than any H/D on the road today. I think all of the bolts on it were loose and the muffler was gone so EVERYTHING made a noise. My first love was and has always been cruisers but in high school you only ride what you can afford. Today I ride a 2012 Victory X/R Classic and I haven't died yet but I have gone to heaven.
@RDA8191
@RDA8191 8 жыл бұрын
+Marty King that's awesome, I hope I can ride as long as you have. when I said I liked hearing a Vlogger closer to my age, I basically meant someone older than the 20 somethings that are all over the place. I'm 34 and I would prefer to listen to someone in their 30s, 40s, 50s. its much more relatable to me than a 22 year old on Gixxer acting hard everytime a Toyota cuts them off.
@martyking6942
@martyking6942 8 жыл бұрын
I understand. I just wanted to let you know that the S/S or what I refer to as "Dipped in Plastic" bikes never caught my interest. Cruisers were my first love and will be my last. As I stated earlier, I hope you continue your VLOGs because I will follow them. Keep, what there is, of the shinny side of your bike up.

A very nice modded slim, congrats man! I have a suggestion for the balancing weights on the front spokes... There are small narrow black coloured glue on weights for the rims, those weights are close to invisible and do the same job. The tire guy with real bike attitude will put 'em on without asking, because they're not that visible. But once again cool ride.

thanks, yours looks great too. I really like the green and brown you've got going on with the blacked out front end. ride safe and enjoy. This is one of the most fun bikes to ride that I've ever owned. I guess im getting older because I thought I'd ditch the floorboards as soon as I picked it up, but I love those things now. I've noticed a lot of people are hesitant to try the heel shifter. i didn't touch it for the first 6 months, but I finally tried it and I use for every single upshift now. I step down on the toe shifter to downshift and step down on the heel shifter to upshift, I love it now

+RDA8191 nice slim bro, how much better is the mustang seat than the stock? when I first got my slim I had a bad ankel so I used the heel shifter a lot but now I dont use it at all . What kind of saddle back are those they looked cool .
@RDA8191
@RDA8191 8 жыл бұрын
+Iron Bronco It's strange, but I had this same seat on a sportster and it was great, but for some reason the way it's designed for this bike, it puts a lot of pressure on the tail bone area. For that reason, I would probably try something else if i could do it over. I would say it's still a significant upgrade over stock. Maybe your ass would fit differently in the saddle than mine and you wouldn't even notice any issues with your tail bone. I will have to get back to you about the saddle bags, your the second person to ask about them

thanks bro, check out Exile Cycles. Russell Mitchell is a legend and he makes really sick parts. They are great pipes and much less common than other brands like Vance and Hines (they make great stuff too). Its pretty cool ordering from him because it's done over the phone and he takes your order, not some secretary. So you're ordering from a motorcycle legend, he speaks to you on the phone, then hand builds your pipes.

Nice mods on your bike man! H-D's have a lot of weight and mass in the front end. Without the front fender support, you will need a front forks brace to re-stiffen the forks rigidity and counter any twisting/vibes action between the forks. Check out the Roland Sands Design Fork Braces, which are well-made and can go with the classic looks of your moto.

Thanks brother, I just checked out your video where you got your T bars mounted, they look awesome. Sounds like you had an issue with JP Cycles too. I ordered some nice attack bars from them for my sporty and a cheap drag bar for the Slim. After a month without them being shipped I had to get a refund on the attack bars. the drag bar I never asked for a refund because they were only $26. They finally shipped a couple days ago, 4 months after I ordered them. They did give me a free gold membership as an apology, but I've been doing everything on RevZilla since then and they ship super fast

Dude yes! Biggest headache ever! I ranted forever in the raw footage but decided no one would want to hear me ramble lol. Worst experience ever! And everything was right in regards to invoice, labeling on the wrong item, etc. I should've never strayed from revzilla. The motogods punished me! I do like the grips i ended up getting instead of the ones I ordered, only downside is vibrations from country roads make my hands go numb pretty quick

Grant Masters I don't see why not. it's low to the ground, which is less intimidating for a new rider. it's a large displacement engine, but its not going to take off on you like a 1000cc sportbike. I think it's doable if you take it slow and respect the bike

I also like the bare bones look. I'm not into an easy rider movie chopper and I like the FAT Harley look, but at the same time I want that engine to stand out solo in its raw huge tallness. Every Harley owner should make their bike to suit their preference and their character. I own a mint 02 softail 1450 with the supreme wheel rims, solid grey inner and slots (fat boy type) and front wheel with 4 large inner chrome and full chrome front to back with fork guard and chrome fork tube coves. So its notjust some regular standard. I have the light grey base engine block that makes great contrast against the full chrome outer primary cover. That grey base lower engine reminds me of green concrete before it dries. But for another guy mine might not suit his taste and he should make his to suit him For my pipes I have the old shot gun pipes style. Nice and loud! Loud pipes save lives

Guess these guys couldn't make up their minds between black and chrome and ended up with a "mess", right? after all, that's a lot more than a "touch" of both, isn't it? Look, you know jack shit about bikes. The only color that was changed on this bike is the lower fork legs, from aluminum to black. The rest of the choices for contrasting black and chrome were decided by Harley designers, who clearly know much less than you about motorcycle design. Post a video of your superior bike, or choke on my dick

angela jay By the way, all black pipes are matte black, there aren't gloss black pipes, but I'm sure you already knew that. Every gloss black bike,with black pipes, runs them in matte, because that's how they're made. Go look at some other bikes. I'm just trying to figure out what your point was. So if you own a black bike don't run black pipes, or take the bike apart, strip the frame to bare metal and get it painted to match the pipes??? Based on the over 90% like ratio, I'd say you are clueless. I don't need to disable comments, I prefer to slap down retards like you as you pop up

+RDA8191 Awesome bike man and nice thorough video! Question about the Shotgun Shock with it all the way down. Have you ridden it fully lowered and has it bottomed out when doing so? And I totally dig that clean up job on the left coils, such little details make all the difference in overall look. Again, good looking bike man!
@RDA8191
@RDA8191 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I've never ridden it all completely lowered, but yes it would bottom out. if you bring it up a few inches, your body weight will sag it enough to still get that lowered look while you're riding down the road

No offense, but that twincam rattle sounds like a washer machine. It kills those nice pipes at idle. My evo doesn't sound like that. Maybe I'm just use to hearing mine all the time. I won't out run you that's for sure ;), sweet ride, keep up the good work. And to Jim Piver, you go it all wrong, it's patato potato potato :)

Nice! A few questions about that shotgun suspension. If you set it to where you want to do you find that it loses air and you have to readjust now and again? Did you install that yourself or did you have to have the dealer do it and if so how expensive was that? Also, did you remove the front fender to accommodate that larger tire or did you just want it off?
@RDA8191
@RDA8191 7 жыл бұрын
CD Moto the fender removal was just a style choice. the suspension I installed myself and isn't too hard. the only problem was one of the shock bolts on this years model was damn near impossible to remove because there was no room to work under there. Other than that really annoying issue, it's a straight forward install

The bike is beautiful. Is it possible that the use of apes magnifies the vibrations from your front end? Would the old trick of adding mass (lead weight) to the inside of the apes cut down on the vibration?

My 1988 flstc ( birtha bags) was lowered when I got it , softails do ride way more better raised up , ( but very cool slammed) , I like that on board air , also how'd you remove the seat post , actually opens it up for dual exhaust wich I'd considered many times but post was in the way wich is part of the frame structure do you notice more vibe I wonder? Also , a slant cut at the end of those pipes I bet would open up the sound quite a bit . NICE LOOK !

Fabio Rodrigues da Silva ooooo u think so ! Careful with your comments you may show how ignorant you are about motorcycling , I have 195.000 miles on THIS ducati. traded in last ducati on this one with 196.000 miles , Suzuki that I did four corners tour on had 93.000 miles . I don't give a shit if you believe me or not . I also have a great T-shirt I had made THE ODOMETER PROVES THAT MY DUCATI IS NO FASHION ACCESSORY so until these "riders" stop talkin about what they have added to their chrome air compressors to improve the looks, and start talkin about where and how far they have RIDDEN! I can never take them seriously.

Thanks Kyle, that's a Toyota FJ Cruiser in the background. When I was deciding which bike I wanted to do next, I was torn between a Slim, a Deluxe, or a Street Bob. I ended up finding this bike with very low mileage and underpriced, so I bought it and now I'm pretty happy I went with the Slim. I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as you understand what type of riding this bike is suited for.

Great looking bike! I also have a Slim (S in my case). Am really interested in those fork covers that you showed at some point in the video: they must look super cool once installed. Can I ask what brand they are and possibly where did you source them? Same for the front light if possible. Did you not find options to cover the hole behind the new front light (given the smaller size of the new light vs the original 7")?
@RDA8191
@RDA8191 8 жыл бұрын
thanks! check out "rough crafts shadow rocket" right here on KZfaq. that video will show you what the fork covers look like installed, they look so damn clean. They can only purchased overseas (that's assuming you're in the US) and they're are very expensive. They're made by rough crafts and I got them from a website called HarleyCustomUK. The quality on them is amazing. They are heavy duty and perfectly machined, absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. There is no solution for that crater that's now exposed behind my little headlight, but I also have a 5 3/4" headlight and it wasn't very visible with that one mounted. I think I got my current headlight from Low Brow Customs, but I'm not certain. you caught me while I was surfing KZfaq, hence the rapid reply

@RDA8191
@RDA8191 8 жыл бұрын
+ratephi if they were, I wouldn't know. I had an old softail frame with an S&S motor in it and I bought those bars off Craigslist to put on that back. When i was done, the bike was a real slim bobber and the bars looked too wide, so I took them off and put some super narrow apes. this bike has a beefier front end, so the bars fit it much better
