For those who notice that he gets lines from buildup, it would be much cleaner if he went in different directions from coating to coating. You want the layers to become a mesh and not bars.

@@Brawlio13 just make sure you lay down 6 coats with the last 2 being heavy..... Dunk the can in hot water for 10 minutes before spraying.... Trust me

I was actually thinking to do the same thing only with standard spray paint, however using Plasti Dip (which I never heard of before) is by far a better option since it's removable and I would like to thank you very much for that idea. Luckily it's available too here in Germany, so 2 cans are on their way to me as we speak ;) I second the suggestion of maybe trying to do perform the procedure on the Dual Sense controller shell, however it might look weird with the white sticks and touchpad afterwards. Anyway thanks again, very good job sir! Greetings from Berlin =o)

vantablack? it's pretty unstable and its creator is a massive jerk and only lets you use it with his express permission. black 3.0 is the way to go if you want blackest black possible.

@@TheNextUpgradeSweet, definitely make a video, Yeah I can imagine, I've taken apart a ps4 controller with a video guide but I've seen a dualsense taken appart and it's abit more complex, just need the tools and patience. But yeah the d pad and other buttons like x o all fit in the ps5 pad too if you want black buttons, not sure about options and create/share button I think those will need paint.

He didn't change directions when spraying coats, a cardinal sin, you can see horizontal spray lines in the final product during the initial unveil, this could've been done a lot better

@@TheRealist1. If you can see it in the low exposure grainy video, it's even more apparent in person. It's not an inspection, it's something you display in a room bc it's so large, and it would be the first thing you notice. He has also since removed the plasti dip, so I assume he wasn't happy with the results either

I liked the video and i love the matte black side plates. But i also applaud Sony for doing it a bit different this time around with the dual tone White/black. I personally like it but i understand it's not for everyone. It's really 50/50 with this one. People really hate it, or love it! I personally love it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why did you spray the entire underside of the panels when only about an inch or so of the edges are visible once they're placed back on the PS5? Also, doesn't covering the mounting tabs with a thick coat of Plasti-dip make it harder to put them back on or remove them later?

I did that so that it will be easier to peel later - I have found plastidip is easier when it is one uniform coat It clipped in easily. A thick coat of plastidip is not very thick relatively

@@noaah4420 making sure the bottle is warm not cold, shaking it really well. Making sure the tip is clean between coats, spraying with 50 % overlap, spray straight not spraying down. Good distance between the can and the object you’re spraying. Good 6-8 coats.

This is what fits for many people. For me for example the normal black and white looks good in my living room, but that’s not where I’m going to use it. In my room this matte black version fits perfectly

When I first started watching I was thinking in my head “I wonder if he’s gonna use plasti-dip” I started yealling, “I knew it was gonna be plasti-dip!” My girlfried was like “Why are you yelling?” lol.... 5 years ago when I bought my SUV I loved my wheels and only wished they were matte black instead of Chrome. Some random forum suggested plast-dip and I’ve sprayed painted them twice in that 5 year span and love how easy it is and how great it looks. I like the white PS5 but ast some point I’ll rubber coat it black ,maybe in a year or 2, to switch it up. Thanks Aussie guy!

@@jammycjj Just like 3rd party controller, headset and other accessory makers Sony will allow certain 3rd party companies exclusive rights to make custom side panels for the PS5. It’s inevitable I’m sure Sony just wants to wait a bit focus on the rest of the launch, and release more stock. I would imagine early next year Sony is going to come out with official custom colour panels or at least allow select 3rd party companies to start releasing them.

You can also use a plastidip clear glossifier on top if anyone wants a glossy touch rather than a dull matte.

Add some contrast colour at the PS logo that might make the logo pop up so it’s not just one colour 🤙🏻

The logo isn’t actually on the plating, it’s a hole of the logo, so he’d need to cut out a shape of it but slightly bigger to do the edges for visibility. It’s a nice idea in thought though

Now that is more sexier than the white on black never cared for that color design give me pure black with maybe a cherry red controller very nice man very nice.

I'm trying at the moment...doing a blue which I hope helps promote the blue ps5 lights. If it works well I might change it too a certain AFL team colours with a decal to match.

This is sick and looks way better than the white I will have to do it when I get my ps5 it would be cool to cut or spray a big ps symbol on both sides of the plates
