www.ApogeeRockets.com - You've downloaded some plans from the internet, and there are some custom components that are no longer available, what do you do?
When you can't get a part, you'll have to make it. This week we go over how to do that, what processes you can use, and some tips and tricks for finding the information you need.
We talk about making transitions from templates, fabricating nose cones from balsa, creating fins from scale drawings and 3D printing rocketry components.

Tim: You are still, without a doubt, the best model rocket educator in the hobby. I always enjoy your videos and even though I have been flying since 1967, I learn something every single time! Thank you for your dedication to the hobby!! Doug NAR 11968

That is surely the most laborious method of making a nose cone. I drill a 1/4 " hole centered in the block of balsa. Glue a 1/4 dowel in the hole, then chuck it in a drill and then turn it in the drill like a lathe except all you need is various grades of sandpaper to cut to shape. Work slowly and check fit very frequently and you can have a nice NC pretty quickly.

100 percent this. Even better than that a drill press can work for this and hold it steady. Or an actual lathe can be used to make perfectly round noses and custom parts too.

Fantastic video, thank you! I've seen them, but it might be great to link to the various videos you referred to here.

The Estes Astron Avenger (K-38) made its first appearance in the Estes Catalog back in 1969, and made its last appearance in the catalog as the Estes Avenger (1238) in 1981

I built my first rocket with just random things around the house. An Easter egg for a nose cone, Paper towel roll for a body Cardboard fins cut from an old box And motor mounts cut from the same box Spray painted and let sit over night the next day it flew great. Its deffenitly more of a one time use rocket but it was mostly just to try to see if i could successfully build one. It was even recovered with no damage

Hi Tim, do you have a preferred resin for rocket parts? I have had good luck with Anycubic Eco and Anycubic Standard as long I don't overcure but am curious what you have tried.

Which rocket motor is best for landing model rockets like composite or black powder

There isn't a best motor - until you accurately describe what the size of the rocket is, the flying conditions, and the mission of the rocket. We did a KZfaq video called: "How to Select Motors in RockSim v.10" Take a look at that video.
