Thank You one of the best reviews out there. This van was a great example because it had a lot of things most stock vans are not ordered with. Would have liked so see the access ports on the floor for the battery and other things. Only negative point is you overlooked the speed control on the steering column, otherwise a great job.

Nicely detailed review! The little piece of clear plastic on driver side of the windshield ( the A pillar) is a tan or a holder for load manifest, parking pass and other documents that might need to be displayed in a commercial van might.

I just test drove the 159 wheel base with extended cab and was surprised at how comfortable the seat was and how nice it was to drive. Thank you for the added insight especially because you loved Sprinters.

The winshield clip is for parking permit clip or in europe for proof of paid registeration (some jurisdiction requires it)

I have a 2014 pro master 2500. Have over 350000 miles on it. I’m 4’9” and the seats adjust fine for me. Love having the pedals low. Comfortable too and good handling. I’ve had to have some engine work on it. My biggest gripe is the headlights. Poor design, have to take complete assembly out to change bulbs. I have one blow every month or so. Mine has another usb and jack in the recess on the right side of the steering wheel. Overall I’m satisfied with this vehicle and am thinking about getting the 2018 model.

It’s used for my steam cleaning business. I have double sliding doors, all custom built and all top notch equipment . I even installed black lights in the cargo bay. Looks so cool at night.

Can you access the engine compartment from inside the van by removing the center engine cover (if it has an interior engine cover)?

@@Marley20 Where I live and most of America, there is no one to service the Mercedes. If you live in the snow belt you will need either front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive.

Ehhhh, just bought a promaster 3500 high roof extended here last week. I swear I thought the transit was the one for me for the longest time, but found that these do drive better. Just felt more at home in the cockpit. Another huge plus is the squareness of the cargo area. Should definitely make up fitting a better process.

There’s nothing square about the interior of this cargo van or any other van for that matter. Thinking that will set you up for a big headache when building it out.

I had a Dodge Ram pick up it was patriot blue beautiful color looked black at night . I just recently started wanting a pro master unfortunately I still have a newer Subaru Outback which I love but I am desiring to do a van build. Ps nice trick I hope it’s all you want .

I'm planning on buying a 2018 or 2019 Promaster 3500...the only thing I've seen with ALL of them is there is no USB port for an iPOD on the radio. I suppose I'll be making a trip to Best Buy for a new radio once I get mine! Good video, very well done! (11/30/2018 Friday 5:24amCST Houston, Texas)

For those building a camper van. Rear floor mat is excellent template for 1pc floor. Tongue & Groove might look nice, but it WILL separate in short order.

That's a great tip! Too late for us. Wish I would've seen it three months ago. We are waiting on ours to come in and tear into it and for sure, no T&G floor! Ceiling am planning on it though

This van is coming from Europe. Here call this van Fiat Ducato or Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper. The basic engine in Europe is a 110 hp 2.0 liter diesel or we can buy with a 2.3 liter 177 hp diesel engine. Here is not this van with gasoline engine, but with this 3.6 liter v6 engine this van can be a really fast and powerful vehicle. I would like to drive it! This Ram Promaster ( or Fiat Ducato in Europe) is a really comfortable and valuable van with big cargo area. :)

Very nice vans! Even if their fwd! At least they are better in snow and wet roads than the old rwd vans! But that thick black line that splits the side window on the drivers and passengers sides ends up right in your mine of site in the side view mirrors! There are a number of RV manufacturers that are using these for Van Camper Conversions! That make a great roomy unit! With fwd gives you great all weather capabilities. With all that room back there! As far as power goes they come with the great V6 Pentastar engine! The van is based on the Fiat van built in Italy for service in Europe and all over the world. But they have smaller engines and diesels available, that gets great mileage, but due to our dreaded epa we are not able to buy them those engines in the vans built here. That clear plastic clip reminds me of the red light monitor from the old days, where if you pull up too close to the Trafic light and could not see it because the windshield was to low, you could still tell if the light is red or green in the reflection in the device.

Who was the idiot that put the e-brake on the outside of the driver seat? I had to move one and as instructed I applied the e-brake on the hill. Well I go to get out and the lever goes up my shorts leg. So now I am left dangling by the material of my shorts. I can't reach the ground or any part of the truck to boost myself off. I look up and there is a handle. The screws are so short that I broke it right out of the ceiling. The jolt ripped my pants the rest of the way and I was free to go. That is the dumbest place to put a lever on a vehicle that is make for a driver to be jumping out 100 times a day!!!

As far as I know, Ram does not offer tilt steering on this model.

Having trouble with the seating - would like a 6 way lumbar for the driver, and a swivel for the passenger. Seems one negates the other on the build site. WTH?

Michael Smalley Yes, you can have that. You just can’t have 6-way lumbar and swivel on the same seat.

Why do I see so many of these van for sale online? They are used, this years model (2017), very low miles for only ~$25K. 'Seems like a red flag.' Reviews are either terrible or great. If you are an owner please share your experience. I'd like to buy one used and convert to RV - but I can't have a lot of problems with the Van itself.

I had the same question and did find most were rental units that company's don't keep very long or let mileage build. It is no reflection on the van, same with the smaller Promaster City. I have one and very happy with it.

Whoever put those wheels on didn't even try to get them on right.. Turn orange. Should be lined up with the valve stem. It helps for balancing.

Had one. At 30,000 km it started on fire after I parked. Had 30,000 invested in a lease and was going to buy. Chrysler took the insurance to pay themselves for a faulty van and left me with nothing. Was probably the main battery cable the fire inspector said. Chrysler didn’t do anything for me. Buyer beware.

I will NEVER understand why vehicles that are clearly built for work/business do not come standard with vinyl seats rather than cloth. It is just that most work vehicles are driven by several people and/or not necessarily the owner of the vehicle so people might not be as careful about keeping it clean. Vinyl seats make it to where you can easily clean the seats.

seems like the seats on alot of those vans are made for someone 5 feet tall, so if you're 6 feet tall you are sitting so high.

Don't like the double vertical bar that covers up the rear view side mirror from the inside. Poor design. Those panels on the inside the cargo area are cheap plastic that break easily. Check out more ProMaster videos of people using these vans and you will see those panels are typically busted out.

The Fiat Ducato, manufactured in the same Mexican FCA plant as the Ram ProMaster, sells well here in Brazil, it took the second place in the cargo van segment
