Impressive build here man, the people complaining about not hearing the turbo just don’t know what to listen for.

The turbo is backwards (the cold side) the air filter is is on the output side of the turbo and his carbaretta is on the intake of the turbo

You need a small tank for boost fuel when you are making boost send pressure to a tank which sends fuel to the intake. It will only use that fuel under boost make sure you can adjust the fuel to it. Might help the lean out

the only way you would see any power gains with a turbo, is with an exhaust system called an “expansion chamber”. since this is a two stroke, any pressurized boost charge entering the combustion chamber via the transfer ports, would escape through the exhaust port, before the piston approaches TDC. The expansion chamber should provide significant port plug, to push the escaping charge back into the combustion chamber

Next time fill that tube up with sand and then bend it. That way it won’t look like a crack head made you exhaust, pro tip of the day right there.

It’s cool, even 4 years later. That’s what rc is about, tinkering in the lab. But couple things. U can tune ur motor to run tank after tank and never get hot, also you would go a whole lot faster doing a weight reduction to the car, rather than adding a extra pound for extremely minimal gains (if any) still cool though

You should’ve used smaller copper tubing to fit between the fins on the heat sink. I’ve done this using a copper tube from the front of an old window air conditioning unit. I think it was part of the thermostat. I just added a large pill container and put a small submersible pump inside and filled it with water & ice. It worked but got to be a pain having to refill it after each tank. Basically I wanted to run my engine too lean and keep it from from overheating. Yeah I was a noob. It did run with a lot of power and did keep it from overheating but it probably wasn’t getting sufficient oil. It never ruined the engine but I ended up taking it off because it was too much of a hassle.

Not to be a dick but you've got the outlet of the turbo as air intake and I personally would consider finding a small pump to add more fuel into the engine as once you start building positive boost there is no vacuum to suck the fuel into the carburator and it will lean out but it's cool as hell brother I hope you keep us updated

My only problem is without an a power valve for the exhaust you can't build boost take it from someone who builds custom racing 2 strokes which is more or less with that little engine is and without a power valve to shut off the exhaust side to build a boost you're wasting your time all you're doing is just shoving fuel straight out your exhaust pipe and if you want to shoot flames then you doing right just put a little spark plug at the end good to go but you're not building any power weather cooling system is going in the right direction if you can get the temperature down you can add a little bit of extra oil to your fuel I recommend two stroke Castro oil you can lean it out which will bring your temp up but with your cooling system that'll just bring it to normal and you should double your power in theory I might build one to find out.

When will people learn u can't boost these motors.

lol, It looks like a 1/10 scale moonshine still on wheels- a bending spring would useful (or inexpensive silicon tubing from Ebay if your budget stretches that far) if it wasn't a pointless exercise charging a valve less 2 stroke....

Did you give it full throttle ? i know you don't have much road but slow tho my nitro rc i use to have at short distance and long distance was instant just tune it up find some Mandrel tube bender for rc or some thing . all that i said a side you did a awsome job on what you did your self very cool.

The engine is sucking through the turbo backwards, the air filters are mounted to the turbocharger outlet.

You ever heard of a tubing bender? Instrument techs use them . You can get them at a hardware store.

2 stroke engines can not be boosted by turbos or superchargers, only by expansion chambers but you can put that little turbo in a nitro 4 stroke engine for sure

I am pretty sure its gonna rob power from the car instead of increase it. You can't just whack a turbo on and expect power without other mods. To gain power you need to add more fuel for the extra air to combust with. That would involve expensive electronics to control fuel flow, as just opening up the needle valve will work but only when the turbo kicks in which means at low rpm it will bog down from excess fuel. Also I'm skeptical how long it will last without oil flowing to the bearings. Hope you get it to run right, cool little project.

Sorry but that is the slowest nitro engine I’ve ever seen. My old Traxxas rustler 1.5 was faster than that. It sounds like it’s only getting half throttle if that. I think a better upgrade might be simply adjusting your throttle linkage.

why not just use a damn brushless motor and a fan with an esc set to spool up like a turbo and have it shoot the air into the engine....u could use a mini rc jet engine or something like that....why try to use a turbo when u could create something better and get astronomical gains? use your heads people this is not a real car its a toy so treat it like a toy and ideas will come accordingly.
