Thanks for the informative video on flushing cooling systems. Older cars need this type of TLC more often. Much appreciated for the advice.

Is it better flushing with or without thermostat ?
@TheEnthusiastMechanic
@TheEnthusiastMechanic 7 ай бұрын
It’s easier with the thermostat out it flows better and gets more impurities out that the might get trapped at the thermostat.

Thanks dude my the car I just bought has this issue and I was looking for advice on what I could try to do to help it. This is exactly what I was looking for I was hoping I could mabay flush it with something that would remove the buildup of gunk as it is really bad and I need to do something. So I really Appreciate the time taken out from your day to show me that this is possible and will take time and what steps to take to get it done.

That honda is all aluminum. as far as I know the only thing steel that could cause rust on that engine is the core plugs

What if you have one rusted so bad it ate through the freeze plugs?? How bout Thermocure?? Also, what about the heater core??
@TheEnthusiastMechanic
@TheEnthusiastMechanic 9 ай бұрын
If it got to the stage where freeze plugs were rotted out, I would think the engine would be pretty bad and you may want to consider replacing it. If that wasn’t an option, I would say use whatever sort of cleaner that can be the least intrusive in the system, but you would definitely probably have to replace heater core, plugs, and all things associated with the cooling system to give it a fair chance. That may be a little bit too much, depending on the vehicle.

will that be a permanent solution or will the rust come back on the long run?

If cleaned out and serviced regularly it should be fine but this vehicle I told the customer to get the system flushed a bit more often than what the manufacturer calls for to be preventative as a measure

Anyone use CLR?
@TheEnthusiastMechanic
@TheEnthusiastMechanic 4 ай бұрын
So I have done that in the past, but you gotta be really careful with aluminum and CLR apparently it can eat it away. You have to dilute it down a little bit or not leave it in there very long if you don’t dilute it and make sure you really rinse it thoroughly.
