@@henrydillard6217ain't nothing cheap. An oil change cost $40+. If you can't afford repairs, why bother getting hit with a $50+ diagnostic fee. Drive it till it breaks/dies/crashes.

i really get a kick out of people driving on tries with the cords hanging out who cant afford tires.but there is 130$ worth of empty cigarette packs & fast food bags all over the inside of the car.& they CANT afford tires? we know why.

I think the issue is with people who don't quite understand the importance of getting replacement tires. Also, sometimes, tires will wear in a way that is not easily noticed without getting under the car and let's face it, the average driver isn't getting under their car to look at things.

I will never forget the jeep Cherokee that college son told his dad he hit a curb. Vehicle on lift I noticed paint transfer of suspension parts. I showed this to them . Agreed with the son but, told them I believed he hit the curb when " landing" so he admitted he and his buddies were jumping a local bridge.

00:49..... I absolutely had that happen to me, about 30 years ago. It was a 30-06 round in my front tire with the primer tapping the ground at a slight angle. The tire shop refused to touch it, so I had to drive home slowly and then pull it myself.....still have the bullet.

I document the repairs to my car. My mother is constantly telling me I should trade in my "jalopy" I don't think so. My car is old, but well-maintained. These cars are just embarrassing (and dangerous)

Strange enough. Thats not the first time I've seen an entire bullet cartridge in a tire. I had one on my work truck a few years ago. It was a .270 Winchester. I sent a picture to the management and told them "this tire is shot"

Only if they have the safety inspections done by a government agency that doesn’t do the repairs so customers don’t get bilked by unscrupulous mechanics who claim everything under the sun needs replacement.

Meanwhile in Germany you can fail your inspection for a minor issue like a malfunctioning signal lightbulb. And the mechanics can call the cops on your ass if you decline repairs on important things like steering,springs and struts and so😅😅

In the UK, the mechanic isn't allowed to let the vehicle back out on the road with major defects. It's either fixed or, destroyed by law.

Shops should do what some do in the UK. If the car is having its annual safety inspection and it fails, the vehicle cannot be drive away (law). If it is not an inspection and obviously dangerous, yet the owner will not fix it, call the cops. If the owner returns before the cops, say you have temporarily mislaid the keys. The cops can arrest him if he drives on a public road and the car will be impounded.

i get it, yall want to save some money and you think it will hold up until the next maintenance, but is it really worth it? You driving and can't brake, can't steer and 60 mph straight to the nearest cliff\tree\obstacle and you get yourself a nice hospital bill which lets be honest its 10 times if not 100 times worse than putting 50 bucks on oil or brakes

Umm, repair costs are usually a lot more than $50 lol. Due to how bad people drive, I am more likely to "junk" or resell a car that needs repairs that cost too much. No sense in putting 2-4 times the value of the car into repairs just to have some drunkard with no insurance total the car and flee the scene.

@@MmmmJuicy what if you did put the 50 on the vehicle in the beginning, before the problem pile up? If you ignore 1 thing it can lead to another more serious one. If you get ill do you go to the doctor or you ignore it?

@@vmdenis3350 Where I live, you can barely get an oil change for $50 unless you do it yourself. You can't get a tire for less than $100 for the cheapest. The problem is labor costs. The typical mechanic here gets anywhere from $80 to $300 an hour depending. Sure, you can hire that shady "mechanic" for $50 an hour, but you might end up worse off.

Shell casings taking out tires happened often enough in the Army. Hit it just right and it digs right in like a lawn dart. It's one in a thousand, but when there's thousands of them on the ground, it can happen.

0.05 is the seal foil from a gallon jug of oil. Poured in to the engine, amazingly it made it down to the oil pan.

Many of these videos confirm that the yearly inspection mandatory in my country is a great idea. A small slop in a joint ,bad swaybar links or degrading rust in load bearing parts and your car is not allowed on the road.

the shop should ask the question as to whether they want there vehicle repaired if there is a serious faut, before they waste there time inspecting it as some are obvious that there is.

If the mechanic or service writer takes them out to their car and shows them it might mean more. Over the phone … not so much. Most suspension problems are gradual so the owner (not mechanically inclined) really doesn’t understand how dangerous the problem is. Many have 5-6 credit cards maxed out today and can’t stand a $5-600 hit…but they don’t miss hitting the pub after work or out to dinner 2-3 times a week.

While traveling to a job at a tire shop, a tire on my service vehicle started leaking, I had them check the tire, and they found a bullet casing in the tread. I still have it. 9mm if I recall correctly.

Now here's a scam for you. When I bought a new Camry in 2018 I noticed an item on the invoice indicating that the dealer had changed the cabin filter on the first (free) service. I checked and found that the filter was in fact new, but I could not understand why they had changed it when the car was still spotlessly clean. Years later I figured it out, when I learned that the car had come with an expensive activated carbon filter, and they had switched it for a cheaper, standard filter. Never, ever, trust a dealership. They will find a way to screw you if you do not do your own maintenance.

Because they took his new expensive filter, gave him a cheap filter, then likely resold the expensive filter to another customer. Some of those filters are $200+ labor. So it could be a $500 profit item for the second customer.

@@wilsworkshopnew Toyotas come with ToyotaCare meaning they also replace the cabin filter with that service at the recommended interval. The old filter gets thrown out, not sure why you would think they would resell a used one.

@@FSXflyermaster Sure, they just threw away an expensive filter rather than reselling it or letting some mechanic put it on his personal vehicle. Look up the legal definition of conversion of property and note that it is in fact a crime. Meanwhile, take your car to a dealer for a job you can do yourself and let them rip you off if that pleasures you somehow.

No, that is not what happens when you 'do not do regular oil changes'. My deceased uncle-by-marriage ran an automotive repair shop for years. The only time he saw oil THAT BAD was when the WRONG type of oil was used.

Usually it's short trips, which lead to water in the oil which causes the oil to sludge up. If the car only gets driven longer distances, the oil will last longer. Short trips are rough on engines.

I buy a lot of auction cars and people I think do not know they have a cabin air filter some are just so nasty. We had a young lady buy a car she came back, saying it caused her to have asthma attacks yup the cabin air filter was clogged and we think car belonged to a smoker.

It should be a mechanics moral responsibility to deem a vehicle unsafe and dangerous to drive! When customers of my dad refused to have the necessary repairs done, he just simply pulled the plates, stating why he did that! Your car is not safe on the road! Fix it, or don't drive it!

Yeah only in AMERICA would you see this terrible states of disrepair on vehicles,this is what happens when the laws are so relaxed when it comes to doing maintenance on vehicles and owners are allowed to drive around in death traps for them and other road users ! It blows me away that owners are allowed to decline repairs and can drive away in a vehicle that should be at a wrecking yard let alone be driven on roads.
