0:05 From the looks of it, the customer has rolled back the miles on the odometer to hopefully get an engine covered under warranty. However the oil filter looks new, so maybe they just changed that in hopes that it looks like they serviced their vehicle often, but looking underneath the oil pan says otherwise. Customer's insurance company got involved and I'll give an update if I get one.
0:27 Work order shows top on left (CEL and has hard brake pedal).
Check engine light was on as a sensor was faulty. The technician shared the work order as well since he knew most people probably wouldn't believe this otherwise. He said this is the strangest/funniest one he has ever seen.
0:39 The center vents were closed.
0:50 Vehicle was left in 1st gear so the engine was still rotating while being flat towed behind their camper van. The engine self-destructed.
1:03 The technician said their's no state inspections where he is from so a lot of vehicles like this are driven on the roads.
1:16 The vehicle was left at this dealership and never picked up. The technician said he's not sure what happened as he doesn't work at that dealership anymore.
1:33 Exhaust is secured to the driveshaft. The customer told the technician he did not know what a driveshaft was and that it rotated.
1:39 "The customers were actually very cool about it. The car was hit hard in the driver's side prior. They have owned it for a little over a month and bought it as a salvage title."
1:49 “Oh I know, my son said he could weld so we didn’t use a body shop. It looked pretty bad so I stood on it and tried to break it but it held so I just left it. He then argued with me that it would hold up just as well in a wreck as the first time."
2:07 Nissan 350Z. The shop removed the factory coil springs so the customer could adjust the ride height with the coil overs he installed.
2:16 The customer had a Rottweiler that did all of this damage to the inside of his truck. Karma?
2:27 If you look at the brake rotor you can see that the brake pad doesn't contact all of the brake rotor. Some vehicles have different sizes of brake rotors/brake pads depending on the model, so something to keep in mind when installing new brakes.
2:38 Cans were left in the center console.
2:44 The Ford Transit was only a few years old but had a ton of miles on it as it was used for deliveries, but never serviced in the two years of ownership besides once.
2:56 This happened in Washington (no state inspections), so that's why this vehicle is still on the road. The mechanic said he's not sure why the customer decided to just drain the engine oil on the ground.
3:04 The people who filmed this were just driving and found that this vehicle was still somehow driving on the roads. The cops were called as they thought this was very unsafe.
3:15 Outro. Thanks for watching!

Deployed for two years. While I was gone, my sister used my car. She traveled all over hell and half of Georgia. I forget how many thousands of miles she put on it. About two months after I got back and took the car back, of a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere, there came a wondrous knocking from the engine. Valve lifter collapse because oil was about the consistency of seasoned oak.

I once had a customer who came in eating a burger and asking about a car. It was after hours, I was closing up shop, plus he had no ID, no down payment, no proof of residency, no proof of income, he had nothing. When I refused, he just took the beef patty, put that in his mouth, and just dropped the rest of the burger on the carpet. There was a trash can inches from his feet, but he didn't even bother to aim for that.

I had a Just Rolled In moment the other day. My daughter and I took her car to get some new tires and after it was all said and done, she had 3 busted lugnuts and only two holding the tire on. I gingerly drove it down the street to the Honda dealership so they could replace all of the wheel studs. I have never been so scared before driving a vehicle but that was sketchy as hell. My wife was following behind me and she was freaking out the whole time. How do you think I felt, woman. But all is good and it's safe to drive and the most important thing. At lowest costs possible they do shoddy work to barely get them on the road or to look "normal" again. When they fall apart or a Mechanic cannot find what is wrong with them (usually flood / water / damage, electronic issues etc.) they want to blame the Mechanics and get upset when everyone on the Groups / Forums make fun of them instead of solve their life problems. 🤣

i was doing just minor maintenance on my vehicles. until one day my 6 speed automatic transmission gave up and only went in reverse. instead of paying $3k or more to get it fixed i bought a shop manual on ebay for $8 and watched some guy on youtube disassemble one at least 6 times. read the manual a few times and even got into the technical diagrams explaining how the whole solenoid valve body works to shift gears. the manual was impressively detailed. i bought all the parts and tools i needed for $800-1000 and took my time fixing it. took it apart and assembled it 3 times and then went through the entire transmission to find everything worn out and replaced it. the forward piston had ripped and my overdrive clutch plates burnt. replaced the whole overdrive clutch pack including steels and all the clutch plates in the other packs. as well as the forward piston that caused all the problems. i got it all put back together without missing a single thing. it works like brand new now. everything was put back where it belongs. i think its funny no one wants to touch a transmission let alone think about taking one apart, but i dove right in. if people cant take the time to learn how to do the work properly they have no business doing the work at all. i refuse to pay $120 an hour for dealer mechanic labor. I rather learn a new skill. i used the money i saved to buy a backup car. so i got more out of it.

Dunno what America's vehicle write off policy is like or how it works but down here in Australia it's mostly clear cut but varies in each state and territory. I'm surprised they refused to let you go! In Holland they can strongly advise against it, but can't stop you in any way. Unless it's the yearly inspection (APK) and you didn't pass that test. Even then, they can not stop you, but as the car didn't pass, you aren't insured and illegal to drive. They can (and should) call the police. I always do a pre-inspection a month before APK, so I know what I'm up against, with lots of time to fix any problems. Brakes, tires and lights are top priority to me. Next is if it can start and drive :-) Emergency stop on a wet road.. you will slide a lot further when you lack profile. (What is in Holland 1.5) German highways are notorious for people driving high speeds, so safety regulations should show this. Safety first! Germany is really strict with tire profile depth and summer/winter tires. Part of living in Germany.
