I can’t imagine a shop that wouldn’t make a customer sign a waiver if they refused to have some of this stuff fixed.

I think in such cases you should involve the race control (those with the funky lights on the roof) and prevent the customer from continuing to drive.

I am not a mechanic. But in the 80's I replaced a Turbo 400 transmission, brakes and calipers, and rebuilt a Holly 750 4 barrel carburetor on my Firebird. I used a Chiltons repair manual. Every single repair I did looked better than any I've seen done on here by these so called "friends". It wasn't that hard to make sure all pieces fit together and nothing was leftover. I think some of these people doing these repairs have to be tweakers because they initially believe they can do anything when their brain is frying high.

What I don't understand: how these people, who decline all repairs on their completely brake-less cars, can even stop their wreckage??? How on earth can they stop _anywhere_ , let alone where it would be necessary? 😅

Shop near me had a sign that read, "Stop here for a free brake inspection. If you can't stop, you need us."

I took one of my vehicles in to the shop, told them it needed front pads and rotors for sure and probably calipers and if it needed calipers to do flex lines too. It needed exactly what I thought it did, so I had the whole job done.

You got to love the back yard mechanics that cause twice the damage when trying to fix their own vehicles. 😂😂😂 This is why the real mechanics go to school for repairing vehicles for years. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 You guys are absolutely awesome. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It’s not hard to do service and maintenance jobs on a car. The real problem are the idiots who ignore the advice of the mechanics.

I don’t know about that. People overfill the engine, put coolant into transmissions, diesel in gasoline tanks, DEF where it isn’t even needed. 🤣

Why do we all laugh when we find nuts and nests left by squirrels in our cars??? OK. I'm guilty of it as well. But goddamnit! They are a pain in the ask.

Some of these mechanical issues stem from what I refer to as "amateur over enthusiasm". The owner gets the car immobile, need parts but obviously can't drive down the road to get them. So make do with ever there is to hand. I've always advocated having more than one vehicle available. Bit like having separate bank accounts. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit

Thats a j series in that saturn. Mechanical rockers. Normal to tick at idle but will need adjustment over time.

Some states have different laws when it comes to car repairs some if it drove in it can drive out some the customer would have to sign saying that the shop made you aware of a safety issue and you don't want it repaired so they are not at fault if something happens to it BUT ALL THAT ASIDE ITS NOT JUST YOUR LIFE ITS THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT CAN GET HURT BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON FIXING THEIR CAR

I think all lifters are rattling, & the knock is slight big-end or small-end wear, or slight piston slap. That points to lack of oil &/or oil changes... of course.

we had a problem with rats a long time ago. They kept nesting under the hood of a 75 Mercury Cougar RX7 and had to sell the car They weren't driving it like that for a year. Driving it for a year is what destroyed the tire. I bent a tie rod end like that once hitting a curb in a Focus. Squealed it all the way to the shop. Don't know why the engine ticking video was on here. What's so odd about that? Car broke and owner took to mechanic. That's what's supposed to happen, and it's a Saturn so it's probably toast.

I’m having trouble believing that most of the cars are in such deplorable condition, do people believe in the car fairy? Like the tooth fairy but for getting some money for rotten car’s!

I don't comprehend how a vehicle can end up in such a sorry state as seen in these clips. Sure, its funny and we get a laugh out of it, but at the end of the day, its lives on the line every day someone declines repairs this serious and continues to drive unrepaired. I wish mechanics were legally allowed to condemn vehicles that are in poor maintenance and pose a safety risk to the drivers and other vehicles unless the owner completed the minimum repairs.
