Today I replace a control arm on a Acura Tsx and while doing so I encounter a seized control arm bushing and bolt that didn't want to separate so i show you how its done enjoy!

So glad I found this video. I had a bolt stock in a bushing on an 08 g5. Everything I found said cut it out, knock the cage nut out, and replace the bolt and nut. Went to harbor freight and grabbed a set of those s jaw pliers and soaked it in blaster over night last night. The s jaw pliers were able to get the grip on the bushing that vise grips couldn’t, and it came right out 🙌🏼

This is exactly what happened to me when I tried to take my control arm off to press in a new ball joint. The bolt just kept spinning and I couldn't figure out how the bushing was holding on. The metal part of the bushing must have seized to the bolt. Makes sense now, thanks!

Am I the only person that puts Nickel-Graf anti-seize compound on my bolt shaft and threads on everything suspension? Control Arms, Sway Bar & Links, Shocks, Steering Stabilizer, Tie Rod Ends, Ball Joints, Upper Control Arm Plates(3 bolts), Castle Nuts and Cotter Pins, Wheel Hub Face, Axle Shaft Splines ect... Putting nickel anti-seize on the bolt shaft prevents the bushing sleeves from rust seizing to the bolt shaft and the Nut on the Bolts. The ball Joints and Axle Shaft Splines are very tight fit and only need a very thin layer. It makes them come out easier. I just don't understand why no one uses anti-seize. They wouldn't have these rust, galling, seizing, freezing issues. PSA: ▪︎ If you put anti-seize on threads you MUST reduce torque values by 30%. My rear shocks require 80 ft-lbs on top bolts. The bottom bolts are 85 Ft-Lbs. ▪︎ Multiplying 0.7 by dry Torque-spec reduces value by 30%. 80 * 0.7 = 56 Ft-Lbs. 85 * 0.7 = 59.5 Ft-Lbs. ▪︎ Dry Torque * 0.7 = Anti-Seize Torque-Spec. If you don't reduce torque by 30% you can over torque bolts in critical areas that can cause thread clamp failure. But on control arms/Shocks you would probably be fine but I find it safer to do it the official way stated by Ajax who is the world's leading bolt manufacturer and fastener engineers.

Ive replaced few of these control arms. But all the ones ive done where not rusted.

@@TheEnthusiastMechanic yeah the car about 6 years ago was from Virginia. Mine is 04 but it was California and originally from Tennessee. So it got out of there before the salts got it.
