Is Rough Country a good brand? Are their coilovers any good? Are their kits worth the price and do they hold up? THIS is our opinion.

I have a rough country bumper and I called them with a question while installing it at 10am on a Saturday, and they answered the phone within a couple of rings and I got an answer to my question from a real person. That’s a big deal in my book.

Def appreciate these personal testimonies! While not as expensive as other brands, it’s still a good chunk of change and reviews like yours help put my mind at ease. I’m going with a 3” bolt on with the struts/shocks. Would go with a full 4” or 6” but want to still keep it in my garage. As it is, I’m gonna have to modify my garage door a bit. I agree %100 I own Grimm Brothers Offroad in Ashland and I have to say Rough Country has really stepped up their game in terms of Suspension quality. Just last week we installed a 3.5" lift on a JK and yesterday we received another Job with the exact same lift, but this time it came with control arm drops and in the box with a new drop pitman arm. These items were previously sold separately, but it seems rough country has become more conscious to the fact that today's consumers do not want to sacrifice ride quality for a lifted suspension and are answering that call.

Only damage to the suspension is the leaf spring bushings. And right rear shackle for the front leaf spring. Same truck that is on my channel. Welds never tore and never had any components besides the shocks fail but as I said I blew them out and they were their older ones which are known to fail. I haven't had my ball joints go bad despite the off roading. It's a good kit but it's no custom built baja kit. If you need to get up off the ground and are going to be doing trails it will work just fine for you. If you are looking to blast around off road at speed prepare to open your wallet and look elsewhere. Ride quality is comparable to factory but it's a truck not a Cadillac.

I got a rough country 2.5” lift for my 91’ s10 blazer ( Tahoe, 4x4, 4.3l ) so I could get different rims, take off the stock flares, add ez-flares and a set of cheap 32”x11.50 rubbers ( thunderers).I basically went with them mainly because it’s almost impossible to find anything for my specific truck ( it’s considered the shitty blazer, no solid front axle, but I like it and I’ve taken great care of it over the years). Truck is used for trails and off-road 75% of the time, I don’t beat on my truck, but I’m also not afraid of pushing it. They hit the mark, at least for my old ass hoopty. I recommend it specifically for the older s10’s, Jimmy’s, and s10 blazers. It’s a good set, get the steering stabilizer, thank me later.

If you plan on hitting the desert, dunes, or even spend time driving down old fire roads or dozer roads you might want to hold out for a better option. I went with Camburg uppers, Fox 2.5 remost resi front and rear with a deaver mini pack in the rear. Night and day difference off-road. If your not looking to off road much or just like the look RC is a good option.

You should have replaced the T-rod ends and ball joints when you did the lift installation. Just makes it easier overall. Any time you put a lift on and leave the stock ball joints and tierod ends on they will more than likely fail shortly afterwards, no matter who's lift kit you installed. I did a RC 6" on my 96 GMC Yukon 4x4, and replaced tierod ends and ball joints with Balkamp ball joints and tierod ends. That was three years ago and shes as tight as the day she rolled off the dealers lot. The other thing to do is at 500 miles re-tighten everything and ever 3K miles there after. Happy wheelen Bro!

The way it was explained to me is most people go with rough country because it’s the cheapest and they do the cheapest options with lifts which is usually just spacers which takes away from ride quality. Combined that with big wheels and small times you have less rubber to cushion the road with. I just ordered a 4 inch Rc lift with their additional struts and shock. Going with a 18” wheel on 35s so I expect it to ride just as good as factory

Best cheap set up for a Jeep is rough country long or mid arms with RK dual or triple rate springs.

I started my first Jeep build with a 3.5" RC lift... loved it at first but once the Jeep settled, the ride height came down to almost the original factory height. I then upgraded to Metal Cloak dual rate springs and Bilstein shocks, with RC hardware no sag and the ride quality increased dramatically. My second Jeep build I went with the 4.5" Metal Cloak lift and shocks. My personal opinion if you're working on a budget, go with RC hardware such as arms, cross member, etc But springs and shocks, go with quality.

This was at least 7 years ago and it was probably not as nice as the newer RC products, but I beat the living shit out of that truck and never once had an issue with the kit. I would floor it up curbs head-on and have zero issues.. literally just beating the shit outta that truck. In my experience, Rough country is a good company. Hey I'm not gonna rag on rough country at all. It does the job for most people. That said, I do find it funny how it is the most advertised brand on trucks. Edgar Hernandez I doing a 6in RC on my 18 f150 crew Monday....I hope I’m making a good choice. I can’t see much difference in a standard bds kit vs a RC Kit except for rear fox shocks which you can do later for 250$.
