Beating this level in any difficulty at least once, is a great accomplishment in and of itself for any gamer.

A bit more detail on Black Shadow & Blood Falcon's aggressiveness, they specifically target you a lot when you get to lap 4 & 5. Like, they'll start spin attacking all the time if you get anywhere near them during those laps. Thus, giving all the more reason to kill them both right at the beginning, cause you're likely not going to beat them when you get to lap 4. Blood Falcon has more energy/boost than normal too, and Black Shadow even more compared to him, making them somewhat harder to kill, and them getting to boost more. So if you're ahead of them those two laps and not about to win, they will catch up to you, they will find you, and they will kill you.

That is why every time I didn't kill Black Shadow at the start, I just restarted until I got him. Blood Falcon alone was more than enough of a pain, especially during the final lap. I have yet to beat this chapter with him alive, because the times I have beaten it either I side attacked him or he somehow fell off.

Another thing to consider is how strong the rubber banding is specifically for Black Shadow and Blood Falcon. If you do a perfect TAS without destroying the Black Bull and Blood Hawk, they will both end up with finish times that are humanly impossible to beat.

Michael Chain and Blood Falcon are both extremely aggressive in Very Hard mode

Once you figure out how easy it is to kill black bull at the beginning of the race (yes even on very hard) this mission becomes 10x easier. So much so, that many people who speed run this level have started labeling it and saying "I did it without killing anyone!" haha. Black bull will always first go to pass on your left, so you attack that direction and (assuming you got a solid hit) he'll then go to pass on the right which is your chance to hit him again and seal the deal. I just recently beat this mission again and actually lucked out and also killed blood hawk on the 2nd lap after having also killed Black Bull. I was honestly astonished at how much easier the mission was, and it then made perfect sense how much trouble I had all those years ago when I beat it the very first time (after literally 2 months of trying every day) without ever eliminating any of the other machines.

This level still pains me to this day. I’ve only beaten it on very hard with snaking. Regular for normal and hard, trying to get the hang of shift boosts and MTS with falcon but it’s such a drag. Good tips on the combat aspect

I've always managed to beat this mission without knocking out black shadow and blood falcon. Funniest part on my end was getting those 2 to knock each other off

I beat this on Very Hard by total fluke my first session of attempts. Deathborn on Very Hard is actually taking me way longer simply because he never accidentally kills himself, whereas Black Shadow and Blood Falcon do sometimes.

I just noticed this now, is Hyper Speeder even in the race although he's in the cutscene? I swear i didn't see him in the race once.

I won this race in the stretch line, waiting every racer and killing it even with 3 or 4 laps of difference.

I only just beat this chapter on Normal. It was one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. I was at this for 2 hours, failing again and again, then it's the last lap, I'm in 7th near the second lava pit. I didn’t think I could win, so I threw a hailmary by spamming boost. I make it to 3rd, and then accidentally hit a bomb, rocketing me past Blood Falcon and OVER Black Shadow for the win. It was a good day.

This game and mission was the first time I "locked in" in a video game.

I beated the story mode on very hard back in the days without snaking ofcourse and it was twisting hard as hell.

After replaying F-Zero GX... I finally beaten the V-H level... Oof... To ease things up, I had to take out Black Shadow at the start and then Blood Falcon later on. I was lucky and took him out kinda early in the race... Then the rest, Michael Chain, Pico, and Samurai Goroh, can attack you if you're too close. Once the boost is up, I just boost before falling at the edge for a second or two advantage... Keep my boost for the 2nd half of the turn... Funny thing... It took me less time at my day to beat Chapter 7 then Chapter 8... Oops... I killed Black Shadow and Blood Falcon... Was a bit more easy...

Some people argue chapter 5 is harder which one do you guys think is harder chapter 5 or 7? (Imo 7 all day)

Just beat this chapter on Normal. Wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Granted, I think I just got lucky in the end, but still. Hard and Very Hard are probably gonna be a nightmare, though.
