Thanks for the recap! It made me feel better about some of the weather related failures of this past season! My Dahlias (120 varieties) were at least a month behind this year (late cold snap here too--Lancaster County, zone 6B). It was mid May till they were in the ground--two weeks later than planned. They are booming now though--it will be sad to see them freeze! My Zinnias also had a super year!! I have never used a planting for so long without powdery mildew! Then all three plantings got it bad at the same time several weeks ago. Certainly got my worth out of them though!! Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and plans! THANK YOU!

Love your videos and the realistic approach you share about flower gardening. Inspirational. You mentioned a type of forget-me-nots you planted. Type and where do you order them?

I think part of the problem people have had with dahlias, is planting them out so late. I had mine out in March after growing in pots for two weeks. They had alot of rain and I was started to regret my decision, but by early July I had them in full bloom. I also fed them compost pretty much every other week and once a week fertilizer. I did have to pull one due to a virus, and to make sure it didn't spread to anything else. They're still blooming, zone 7A.

Jenny Love recommends planting radishes in between your lisianthus to help with weeds. I think it’s in her post on lisianthus on her website? Or it was on one of the No Till Flower garden podcasts. Did I hear you say that you two are doing some no till garden practices? I think that would be a great video-to discuss how you do your.beds? You two do a wonderful job! So glad I found your channel!

Fox glove don’t mind a bit of dry soil when small I have them coming up everywhere at home. I have never mulched them. 💗

About the foxglove, try leaving a few uncovered and don’t cut their leaves, let them self mulch and see if that works.

Love your videos! You gals are so cute. I'm curious - When did you get your ranunculus in the ground? I'll be growing some for the first time this year (in a low tunnel) and have a similar climate to yours. We also have a short spring like you. I'm nervous about when to get them in the ground!

Talking about frost in May. I'm outside of Pitt PA and that frost killed off so many berries that sustain the birds through summer and winter and us humans who do local fruit production like early blooming apples and stone fruits. There was nothing I could have done.

The tulip issue intrigues me. Extra roch compost, fertilizing heavily, would that not feed the tulips well enough to help them produce a second year?

I am not sure, but I think that my mothers dahlias always recovered, but hers are from the 1970's, so the newer ones may not recover.
