Cut-Rate Commander - Precon Upgrade Guide for the Hail, Caesar Precon from Universes Beyond: Fallout & its commander - Caesar, Legion's Emperor #mtg #edh #commander #magicthegathering #MTGFallout #mtgxfallout
Hey folks! Submitted for your approval, we have the 2nd precon upgrade guide for Universes Beyond: Fallout - this time covering the Hail, Caesar Precon and its face commander - the legions emperor himself - Caesar, Legion's Emperor.
In this upgrade, we'll be focusing our efforts on overhauling the decks token creating capabilities to absolutely flood the board with token bodies for Caesar to turn into more tokens / card advantage / and eventually massive amounts of burn as they swing in. And then, to take advantage off all the attacks we'll be making and casualties we'll be suffering, we'll also be adding in on attack and on death payoffs to the build to generate us more value / inflict more damage as we constantly crash our board against our opponents - giving Caesar's Legion all the man power and resources it will need to grind the NCR into the dust.

Thanks for the video. Was getting Hail Caesar just to get some of the new cards. Definitely sticking with that as this deck looks like a token good stuff

Glad you enjoyed it! There are certainly some very decent cards for token centric decks in this build whether you going to upgrade the build or strip if for parts - making it a decent one to pick up overall in my opinion.

I'm going to try adding in Ankle Shanker myself. Wanted to focus more on the "Just attack with everything" playstyle and Ankel Shanker helps creatures do that safely or force opponent to make bade trades.

Another great upgrade guide. My vote has gotta be for Mr. House. Dice Rolling seems like a really fun theme, and if you consider fitting in attractions I'd love it even more

Looking through my cards and saw I had Brazen cannonade. Since we expect attacking creatures to die, it feels like it could fit this deck

Two cards I'm testing with are invasion of Kylem and tolvada. Kyle gets to 3/2 that gradually get bigger and tolvada becomes a nice anthem while making flyers on your end step.

I'm surprised Hanweir Garrison didn't also prompt cutting in Hanweir Battlements to have a haste granting utility land that can upgrade the Garrison into a 7/4 hasty trampler that creates two 3/2s instead of two 1/1s every combat in the late game

Just adjust manabase to ur preference and budget. The fewer tapped lands the faster u can tempo

I bought this deck and upgraded it with all of these cards, minus the last 3 non budget friendly upgrades lol. Won 3 out of the 5 games I've played it and it's definitely becoming a new favorite lol

I feel like since this deck has white, keeper of the accord is super good. helps with lands and potentially creatures if someone else happens to have more on board. there might be other stuff to help catch up with lands though someone might know that I'm drawing a blank on

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was odd that the deck had so many legendaries. I don't mind this in and of itself, I have a General Ferrous Rockiric deck that has a lot of legends, but if it hinders what you're trying to do it kinda cramps my style.

Love the build and I can’t wait to make these upgrades! My votes goin to Liberty Prime! I want to see a huge robot crashing into people, also energy isn’t as popular as other mechanics and I’d like to see it come back

Glad to hear it and thanks for voting! Liberty Prime is certainly a fun build around and, even if it doesn't win this poll (since Mr. House has a condierable lead at the moment), we may certainly see this Robot again in future polls for another shot.

I followed a few of these along with a few other goodies . I remember I saw someone say they would combine this deck the imperium and the chaos deck . No clue how it turned out or if it's really possible if so send a deck list of it I want to see what they did with it .

Its certainly not a bad way to turn our spare tokens into more ramp and, every now and again, its ability to keep us alive for 1 more turn can be invaluable - so I can certainly see the argument for running it.

Then regarding my Favorite Precon Upgrade... if we're talking about this set - probably Mutant Menance since its a mechanically different take on +1/+1 counters & mill that makes stand out more than the other 3 in my opinion. But if we're talking in general.... That ones harder. Maybe the Warhammer 40 Ruinous Powers Precon? There was a LOT wrong with that deck out of the box but I really like Abaddon as a commander and had quite a bit of fun building it.

There's a lot of cards I'd like to use in my Isshin deck. Don't like the aesthetics so I guess I'm commissioning some proxies. Not that I'm bothered because some of these cards have awfully high price tags on their own.

I can understand that. Commissioning proxies and/or alters can be a solid way to keep the decks aesthetics without sacrificing performance.

I'm not arguing with the suggested changes. Not one bit. But it does kinda feel like the deck could be summarized as "Take out Caesar, build a deck around him properly". I've been shocked at how unfocused this precon is ☹️

Did you include Teysa to double the death trigger effect on Caesar? Because it doesn't work, I asked my friend and it's the cost of the ability so it's not a death trigger. Maybe I misunderstood the use of Teysa in the deck, I'm interested in getting your opinion on this ! I'll test this deck in commander tonight, looking forward :D

The creature died, no matter the cause, so yes it triggers Teysa. Your friend doesn’t know what he’s talking about

Yeah a creature dying causes you to make 2 tapped attacking tokens so it doubles the tokens

Great upgrade guide, but I feel very torn on removing Black Market from the deck, considering it's all about getting back value from creatures dying. I'd much rather remove Lethal Scheme from the decklist and keep it, considering that the mana curve won't be affected too much.

Sadly they were much too pricey to recommend in the upgrade proper (Around $16 at the time of posting this) but they did make the additional upgrades section if you want to spend a bit more since they do absolutely fantastic as both a token generator and as a way to prevent interaction on our turn so we can crack in unimpeded.

I understand completely. The major appeal of these is the fact that we're able to experience the world of the Universes IP they are representing - so adding in "normal" cards can water down the experience. My goal is to try to power these builds up on a budget, but I can fully understand running these as is if you value favor over optimization (which is a fair stance to take - especially for Universes Beyond).

The only way to properly build Preston is to build a taxes and stax deck to annoy your opponents to death. Play winter orb after you have a few settlements and only you will be able to untap lands. Dont forget to fortify your settlements. I got word they need protecting.

This caught me off guard, but Caesar is pronounced "See-Zur," not Kai-zur. Edit: I was incorrect. Only Caesar's Legions call him "Kai-zur," while everyone else call him "See-Zur." Been a while since I played NV.

It’s either or. In new Vegas it’s both. Legion soldiers call him Kai-Zar while NCR and non legion owned citizens call him “See-zur”

Yep, I was divided on which one to call him in the video, but ultimately decided to go with the way he pronounces it since it is his name after all. Both are correct though.

its the other way around, caeser (rome) is pronounced kaiser. In fallout the characters dont know this (like most people) so they say caeser

Kai-sar is the Latin pronunciation while See-zar is the Anglicized pronunciation. Both are correct, but the Legion uses the Latin pronunciation in the game.

@@smoke2thedome I'm not impressed. It can roll out and be a threat somewhat in some games but it's not anything that can take on a giant board state or anything that flies.
