The fact that you think that this took off because of the Astros means your not paying attention. Baseball has allowed cheating in some form or fashion since before steroids. The Astros not being punish was because other teams were also cheating and MLB needed a scapegoat. If you punish the Astros you have to punish the Rockies Yankees Red Sox's Dodgers. You think MLB has a season without all the players and managers from those teams not to mention staff and trainers in lab making sticky stuff for pitchers like the Reds.

Since the 1930's, baseballs can be legally rubbed up with Lena Blackburne Rubbing mud, usually done by dugout manager. Piching mounds have also been lowered to favor hitters. Truth is, pitchers are a lot stronger and fit than in years past and the fastball is the least used pitch. Compared to football, where the balls go through hours-long preparation of surface grinding and conditioning prior to the game. Now you want to eliminate the baseball "shift?" How is that different than the multitude of defences in football?

This should be the rebuttal to fans that say that hitters just need to learn to not pull everything and stop swinging for the fences. Guys are throwing harder than ever before with ridiculous spin rates. Forget about the fastballs for a second...the offspeed pitches are ridiculous. Throwing sliders 90+ mph is more the norm than the once in a generation phenomenon. And yes, kudos to Trevor Bauer for pointing all of this out and trying to get it to gain attention as best as he possibly could.
