We have two budgies, a male and a female (probably brother and sister). They are so sweet together! Luckely they don't try to breed. Especially the female can make sounds I never heard before.. so sweet!

i remember this. the have 27 budgies currently, and used to have 3 nesting boxes. a yellow albino mom and a blue dad had 3 birds like their mom, and the 4th speckled and yellow. mordecai, an old blue bird, and a young, big white and blue bird blizzard had 2 birds kind of like twins (baby boy half stripe, little boy full stripe), but a stripe on their belly indicating them. there is cyan boy, one like his dad but instead of gray blue it was cyan. they had a sister that looked like mordecai, and we named her mira. then, sprite, one who was born a daddy bird, and pineapple the broken winged bird. they had 3 kids, one a happy little bird who welcomes anyone, egghead, snuggles, (we sometimes but her in a tissue or paper towel when she was young but had her feathers, and she loved it) basically a bird like her mom, just not broken winged, and kiwi that looks exactly like snuggles. the only different is the yellow on top of their heads, one having a big dot of yellow one having a small dot of yellow. after they got their feathers and started to try and fly, we would let them play in a box sometimes after they tried to fly. i remember my mom woke up in the middle of the night, and said "whats that sound, crickets?" and thats the way we found out they hatched, somehow. also, we put things like seeds and some toys in there, because they were eating at that time. we put multiple in at once, and they had a great time playing. it helped them make friends quicker, too. they are all adult birds now, but once some sadly pass away we consider putting in another box or 2.

Ooh! A good experienced budgie owner! I have a broad question that consists of many tiny questions: how do you keep your budgies cuddly/pet-able when they're going through the hormonal teen phase? Ours is hand raised and of course, changed personalities after several days of having adopted her from cuddly to grumpy. It has been challenging us for a few months. Do you pet them even when they don't want it? Our breeder said just to keep ignoring their scolding and keep petting but sometimes i feel like i should stop to a certain degree like if it starts feeling TOO annoyed. I need clear and concise instructions because I feel like too many forums and websites word it way too broad. I want to keep my budgie cuddly and sweet, but it's difficult when it's grown to love biting/nibbling for fun. Do i just let it nibble me? Do i do this twice a day? More? When it starts to growl and try to get away, do i keep doing it or stop? When do i try again? In 1 minute? In 5 minutes? 1 hour? How long do you pet it for? What if it scolds you after 2 seconds of petting? Do you keep petting?
