Cute Koala with Necklace - Easy Needle Felt Tutorial

I loooove koalas so I had to make one out of felt! I used a Hamanaka kit which had the perfect colours for this project. I thought the jewellery was a cute finishing touch even though I did cut up a full-sized necklace! The chain is made from real 18K gold-plated stainless steel (very tarnish-resistant) and I also designed the koala pendant myself. It's available in two lengths from my Etsy & online shop!
Difficulty: EASY (the only bits that may be fiddly are the ears. If you're a beginner you can leave out the scalloped edges and just make round poofy ears)

*Please note this kit doesn't come with needles like from my video because I bought mine offline from Japancentre London. However this Etsy seller (JapanLovelyCrafts) is super nice, I've ordered felt supplies from her before and she's really quick with shipping and sends cute notes with everything.

I decided not to use music or talking in any of my videos because of the ASMR effect (autonomous sensory meridian response). I often watch KZfaq videos before going to bed so I find the quiet ones with ambient noise like crinkling, scratching or tapping very relaxing to listen to.

It's super awesome. Those bloopers though. I'm a grown ass man and I cringed so hard when I saw it. I dropped a needle the other day and found it shortly thereafter with my bare foot. Fun times.

Here in a Australia, when I was little, I used to love koalas. The thing is, we have these identical creatures called drop bears, and you know how everything in Australia wants to kill you? Well, drop bears are basically carnivorous versions of koalas. They drop from the tree and onto your head. One day, me and my friend went looking for koalas in the outback. We thought we saw one so I stood right under the tree to take a better look. It was actually a dropbear. I still have a small bite scar on my back today.

I did as well, but it was a "good" sort of pain because I was so excited about seeing the cute animal come to life :P. Hehehe my boyfriend had the exact same reaction when he was watching me felt for the first time XD.

felting tip! if you are running low on a color and are making an animal ( let’s say ur running low on gray for the koala), make a ball using white wool and cover it with gray
