I found a stray gas station cat and she had three kittens. I called them the velociraptors because they would do the target lock thing and all swing their heads in unison. It was so cute! Too cute. I kept all three kittens and the momma cat.

I can promise you, you'd be bowled over if you owned one of those cats. God gave them their "predatory" instinct. It's not like humans who choose evil. But as someone who's had cats for 50+ yrs...theyre the kindest, most affectionate and loving cats in the world! I lost my MC 6 months ago and I still grieve for him. If you're a cat lover...treat yourself to a Maine Coon. ❤

Cats have helped extinct 50 unique species that will never come back and they have become pests in many places. Like humans. And I'm saying this as someone who has had lots of cats in her life, keep your cats inside and neuter them, they kill billions of animals and they will definitely make more go extinct. In the latest years it been 15 species! They even kill rarer species here in Sweden like snakes, lizards, lots of animals. They are a fuck up to the ecosystem basically everywhere due to the extreme overpopulation, but in warmer climates they essentially fuck it all up.

Our cat Lucy did this when I was young. We had a garden with a pear tree in it and while birds were singing in the upper branches of it Lucy would sit at the bottom of the tree and seem to be trying to imitate birdsong as though to say 'I'm a bird just like you really. It's quite safe for you to come down here and make friends with me'. Luckily for the birds, none of them were fooled by that.

I adopted mine when he was 5 so I'm not positive of his background. People say he looks like he's part Maine coon. I will say though I've never had a cat as vocal as he is. I love it.

My family was blessed to attract two stray Maine Coons here on the farm, a tom and later a queen. The fellow, Bucky, was easy to feed but very hard to tame, seemed to have a kind of epilepsy which would come on after being petted for a few minutes. So heartbreaking! But Isabel was a gentle sweetie. Before we could quite get hands on her, she was pregnant and Bucky was always at her side, completely over the moon to have a beloved, and company and touch that didn't bring on a fit. He was so happy. Their 8 gorgeous, huge kittens all found good Forever Homes, the last two, Ceilidh and his sister Vinnie, with us. They lived to 17 and 19, Darling Ones. A Blessing we will always cherish. ❤🐾🐈‍⬛🐈🌈

I love Maine Coons. Both of mine have been rescues. Girls don’t get as big as the boys; mine weighs 15.25 pounds confirmed at her last vet visit and she’s not purebred or fat. Boys can be up to 30 pounds, but it’s rare. Typical range is 20-25 pounds. Be warned though: they’re incredibly strong and muscular, so they will destroy things much more thoroughly than a regular kitty. Their kittenhood lasts for 3 years instead of the typical 2. Despite that I’ll always have at least one; they’re my favorite breed of cats. They’re special and their love is unlike any other. They bond the most with one human and they’ll follow that human everywhere. They’re great with kids too typically as an aside; I adopted my first when I was 9. From then on I became a member of the Maine Coon fan club.

I went into a despair deeper than anything I’d ever felt before from the 5 other cats I’d previously lost in my life. I’d been grieving Baby for about 7 weeks when out of the blue I found myself agreeing to take the last unadopted kitten from an abandoned litter of newborns my animal rescuing instructor had been bottle feeding for over a month. In my heart I fully believe this blessing in kitten form-Greta-is my Baby Girl reincarnated, not just because the date of Babys passing & Gretas birth are so close together. The first week I had Greta, she was lying on my chest/shoulder & I was crying, thinking about losing my Baby. Greta looked at me so sweetly & gently licked away my tears as if to say “Don’t cry...I’m with you still.” 😇 It was such a comforting gift to receive & at the perfect time. (Drooling a bit when particularly content/happily relaxed is also something shared by both my girls & its really not as gross as it may sound Lol) My deepest sympathies, Mindy...my heart goes out to you. I do hope the time will come for you to find another sweet Maine Coon baby to love & be loved by in return 🙏🏼💕😺
