Huge hit for Bryan Adams in 1983 - at least in the US and Canada. It's got a cool opening riff and a neat little solo.

Wow, what a fun song to learn! Thanks, Mark. Since I'm new to the electric guitar, and especially my modeling amp (Fender Mustang II) it would be very helpful for me if you gave some instruction on your amp and guitar settings to achieve your desired sound for any given song. Thanks Again RNArizona
@MarkZabel9 жыл бұрын
RNArizona Hi RN, thanks for the listen and the comment. I'm using a Marshall 1959 Plexi model with the gain at about 7 and flat treb/mid/bass. Maybe a little extra midrange since I'm using a strat style guitar. On the guitar I'm using the bridge pickup, tone at 10 (almost always this is the case). Volume on the guitar is at 10 (again, almost always this is the case). On the solo I'm using the same settings, but I stomp on a Tube Screamer. On your Mustang II, you're probably going to want to use a "British 70s" amp sound. Again, you'll want to add a little distortion on the solo - not much. Hope this helps!

I hadn't considered doing the solo in this one since it's in the backing track. Once I get the rest of it I may reconsider, I'll see. good lesson. I could learn it from this. I don't use a whamy on my strat and it is set up hard tailed. Since there is a slight overlap between the end of the solo and the first couple of words in the bridge lyric I'd need to do the solo separate and lay it over the main track anyway. food for thought.
@MarkZabel5 жыл бұрын
Sounds good. The whammy isn't all that prevalent, except on that one line. If you're using a tele-style guitar you can do a "behind the nut bend" and it'll sound great!

Great video. Are you using any effect pedal? I am learning how to play the guitar. When I am playing the electric guitar, it sounds like an acoustic one 😭It sounds very different from yours. Could you pls comment on that, thanks a lot for your video!
@MarkZabel6 жыл бұрын
Sure. I can't remember exactly, but I think I've got a little reverb and chorus on it and a touch of compression. I'd guess I'm using a 1970's Marshall type emulator with the gain at about 5 out of 10. I'm using a multi-effects pedal, so all the effects are in the one pedal (Zoom G3X). I'm running it out of a cheap solid state amp totally clean. Hope that helps!

What backing track system do you use in all of your solo lesson? It sounds like all of your lessons include the particular bands instruments minus the lead guitar. And how do I find representative tracks to use with your lessons or is there some place I can go to get some of these tracks. Or what backing track software/system should I use? Maybe you can create a lesson explaining this process. I love your site and all the lessons you've created so far, Thanks, Tom.
@MarkZabel7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Manek Hi Thomas. Sorry I missed your post until now. Sometimes I make the tracks with band in a box type software and sometimes a looper. You can also find good tracks just by googling "guitar backing tracks". Thanks for listening. I appreciate the kind comments!

Good lesson, Can you tell me please, what is the guitar effect paddle you are using? Looking to buy one

Thanks. I think I was using a Zoom G3X multi-effects pedal when I recorded this. Lots of different effects. A fun pedal to play around with!

I'm torn either witchy woman or victim of love both are awesome I relly like felders playing
@MarkZabel9 жыл бұрын
mk phelps Yeah, both are great. I love the groove of VOL, but I think it's Walsh playing the (slide) solo. I also love Felder's playing. Here's a link to a 1976 live version of Witchy Woman. (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d8l8qtGWrLKndYk.html) Felder starts a solo at 3:10. He totally rocks it - way more than the others!! Plus he always seems to have a great attitude toward playing whenever I've heard him interviewed. I love what he says about technique ... something like, "... I have decent technique. It's good enough to get the guitar sound like what I hear in my head." I love that - it's all about music and nothing else. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Agree at video and well presented. How do you stop the string noise between playing
@MarkZabel7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Philip. The usual method is to mute the strings with either the right hand (picking hand) with the palm at the bridge or with the left hand by gently touching the strings, but not hard enough to let them ring through fretting. For rock, the most common way is with the right hand at the bridge.

Mark Zabel thanks for that. makes sense and will practice that
