What you need: 01:25 carving board 01:37 some paper 01:51 jumbo markers 01:57 big erasers 02:11 some pencil 02:40 mini box cutters What you do: 04:38 Trace your rubber to the paper. 06:14 Carve out the extra bits of rubber. 07:01 Tip: Use acetone to remove any design on the rubber. You could also just use the blank side. 07:41 Using your pencil, draw your design within the traced area of the paper. 08:24 Take one of the markers. Lay the design upside down after folding the paper. 09:02 Then, use the marker cap to rub off the design onto the rubber. 10:42 Carve the rubber carefully. 13:42 Ink the rubber up with the markers. 14:07 Press the inked rubber side on a piece of paper.

When I was in second grade I used a box cutter to carve out my grandfather's signature on an eraser and used it to stamp my homework book. Nobody taught me this I just learned by myself and did it for fun, does this mean that I'm a carving prodigy? (I also played with plasticine a lot, molding them into intricately detailed objects ex. airplane, excavater, cars, houses etc)

It means you're damn lucky you still have all 10 fingers!! Hehe who the hell that you have a box cutter when you were seven? Hehehehe I don't know how old you are but I'm old enough that when we were kids we played with things we would never let kids play with now! I live in a very rural area and went to a very country school. In the late 70s, early 80s you would park in the high school parking lot and there would be no less than 20 pickups with a gun rack in the back window and it full of rifles! I am sure 19 at least of those vehicles were unlocked too! no one ever thought about going out there and getting one coming in and start shooting at the teachers and the students! But there was not the bullying that there is now. Sure kids bullied back then but it wasn't constant like it is now. There were only 80 kids in my graduating class and we were all friends. There were the "goat ropers", "pot heads", the holy rollers, but even though they tended to clump together in those groups at lunch, was nothing to see two or three of those groups all sitting together. half the people in the other cliques was probably related to us anyway!

I've heard the "B" in pencil grades be referred to as both brittle and black. I tend to believe the former since no graphite is quite black, and because brittle is the opposite of hard.

The eraser is stupidly hard to work with to crave, no idea how you pulled it off especially on the curvy letters. I don't have access to a lot of supplies in person and from an online perspective the jumbo eraser is around $10-$15, I couldn't find it cheaper. I have knives already, but I found a kit on Amazon that has a decent speedball carver tool with multiple cutting heads of different style, and included a block of rubber all for $20 with shipping. Separately the lino cutting tool and Lino block/rubber block is more expensive so Amazon kits for beginner block stamping is your friend as opposed to erasers if you do not have access to local stores with any of these items available.

Looking forward to your next video! Best regards, Esther (The Netherlands).

The exact Brother printer that I use is out of production, but the same modern version of the printer (I believe the series is the HL-2300 series) still works! You may want to try photocopiers, which sometimes work - my first transfers all came from the local library's photocopier :)

@CutsAndScrapes
@CutsAndScrapes 4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to find, but you can find Speedball's Speedy Carve (it's pink!) in 12x12" squares. HOWEVER, if you're using the heat method to stamp the velvet, the rubber may melt. If that's the case, you may want to try real linoleum - it's harder to carve, but won't melt in the heat! Happy carving :)

Wish we could see how you cut the corners so we can learn from seeing. It's a useful tip where seeing is better than listening. Going fast forward is not showing since everything is moving too fast that the eyes can't process all the information. I would like to say go slow so we can observe what you are doing but it's ok if you don't. I usually skip to the end on the KZfaq when they use the fast forward function on their videos because I perceive they do it because they want the ad revenue and the subs rather than actually showing something interesting. Anyways as a viewer, I would like to see how you build "in normal speed" because I am interested in learning what you know - rather than what they have at the dollar store (this is not as interesting as sculpting letters in an oversized eraser, which is in my opinion ingenious) 😊👍👍👍
