One of the best things about Elliot's reviews is her micro impressions of the main characters. Elliot 10 minute dramatisations might make some fun videos 😄

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! All of the characters were amazing! I don't even know who is my favorite. Also, after a certain event happens there is a 1-page long chapter that is peak comedy! I had to put my book down before continuing.

I wasn't sure if I was going to pick this up, but as long as the multiple POV is good transition wise then I am here for this book. The fact that there are a ton of dragons in this has me sold!

I pre-ordered this book due to the plot (and, not going to lie, the cover reminded me a lot of Magic Knight of Rayearth manga by Clamp) and, of course, dragons. I am so excited to pick this up and check out this author's work. Thank you for the dedicated review!

I love this review! You definitely have sold me and I’m buying it now! Ha! My kids will kill me. 😂 .. soooo many books I’ve picked up that have dragons on the cover or in the title or synopsis then have practically have zero dragons in them! It drives me nuts so I’m glad that these are in the forefront.. that’s what I want!

I don't know if i'll read this book or not. But your videos are the first thing I watch in the morning! Its a nice break from worrying about all the craziness going on in our lives right now and just nerd out over some books.

Loved your review! I had read the authors debut novel and liked it. This one is so awesome. She did such a great job like you said with character dynamics and of course Dog the dragon 🐉

I just finished reading the story and I loved it! I enjoyed the characters so much. They were all so varied and interesting especially when forced the interact! 4.5 Stars (I really hope they make an animated tv show adaption).

I'd check out "The Rage of Dragons" by Evan Winter. Great book with dragons (obviously) and a really unique world. Second book is just coming out soon so might be worth a try ;)

I wanted to ask you, does it never bother you to start incomplete series? I find it really hard to do so coz I don't like rereading and waiting for the next one to come out kills me haha! Because of this I cant start a lot of books I want to.

That’s a good question! It doesn’t really bother me unless the author is known to not finish books :) Doing reviews helps me retain information a little better, and I can always come back to them for a refresher. I’m actually really bad at reading entries in a series back to back anyway 😅

they treat the dragons like dogs, there's literally a dragon named Dog, kind of makes me think of How to train your dragon. I wish there were more character-driven depth moments as you said, we're discussing this on oct 3rd on our channel, swing on by if you want to discuss!!

Hey, Elliot, i got to read firs 4 chapters from an epic fantasy book that will be released next year ( i think January). the lore and history in the book is very interesting. The magic system is really cool: emotions based with rules. And the tone of the book is a bit darker than Sanderson's, for instance, bu t not by much. The characters are engaging like Abercrombie's dare i say...😊 Although i am biased (cause the author is from my country), i think the book is gonna be fantastic, just by the little that i read. Would you like to get these first 3/4 chapters to read?

I wasn't the biggest fan of this book personally. I really didn't start to care or take interest until The Race and even then I wasn't really invested. imo the best part of this book was definitely the dragons, I found them the most interesting lol Edit: and Vespir, she's the only character I personally found interesting Also, my favorite line was when she walked into Lucian's room when him and Vespir were talking and said he had "defined pectorals" i snorted so loud when i read that like girl just say he had big tiddies

SPOILER ALERT Yeah chapter 5 was IT for me too. And immediately the dragon ate the sister! Thar part was more horrifying than her dying. I also loved the way the dragons were used. Especially Dog. He was amazing.

I like Dragons like the next person and I know I'm probably in the minority, but the re-emergence of them in fantasy has been exhausting (I blame George RR Martin for this). There are so many mythical creatures & cryptids out there...why do authors continuously go back to the status-quo and use dragons over and over again? How about killer mermaids? Or Sirens? Or a frickin' chupacabra?

I personally have seen tons of mermaid/siren books-Seafire, Wicked Deep, To Kill a Kingdom, Into the Drowning Deep, The Deep, A Song Below Water, All the Stars and Teeth. I’m not sure I could think of that many dragon books from the last two or three years, but maybe the siren/mermaid stuff has been on my radar more :)

@@ebnovels Interesting. I've seen the opposite. Rage of Dragons, Priory of the Orange Tree, The Waking Fire, Ruin of Kings, Spine of the Dragon...all had dragons in them. Maybe we're just focused on different genres of Fantasy?

Yeah, I’m aware of the term, but if you look up the term bareback online, it’s also slang for having sex without a condom. So saying they ride the dragons free of a saddle was my way of getting around that, since the internet is filled with people who don’t focus on the main point of what’s being said.

In the video you were explaining it and in my head I thought you were going to say bareback, but you sidestepped around the word and I laughed out loud.
