Today we are taking coving on a table saw sled to the next level. Literally to a new level by adding a sled feature that moves vertically as we push the material through the table saw to create concave coves that can add exciting new features to woodworking projects and furniture.

Art. Luxury. Visual interest. The attempt to make artful work have utility is it's own added conceptual challenge, on towards the creative summit. You'll get many naysayers speaking from a conventional perspective. This type of work is not convention, it is transcendent of the norm. Thank you, Izzy.

Tipping the blade will make a wider cove and you can flatten the bottom by indexing the fence and making several passes..... very logical, simple fixture building - Thanks!

Very cool, Izzy. Thanks for sharing your insights and inspirations. I was in the home of a man once who ground his own rosette cutters and every door and window frame were surrounded with rosettes. I'm not saying there was a rosette in every corner, but there were dozens of rosettes, spaced inches apart, surrounding every opening. It was the gaudiest thing I had ever seen and I caution people who begin experimenting with things like this that a little goes a long way. I agree that a table apron or some highlight competent would be the best use for something like this. Either that or perhaps a rack for my corn cob pipes! Scott

Can you pre-calculate the setup for a particular cove shape you want? This is a great way to make transitional cove cuts, but it seems you just get-what-you-get unless you do a lot of testing (a LOT). Seems rather unpredictable (random) for results for the entry and exit shapes.

Lots of potential, but it'll take a lot of testing and maybe even record keeping so you remember exactly what you did to achieve what it is you did do.. Took me a good while to figure out a pretty simple raised panel door when I hadn't made one in quite some time..I think I wasted 4 pieces to get one panel..

Switch the wood (ther one you are cutting) the other way and you would get a reversal of the flute cut running the opposite way. Now that would increase the creativity of this design.

Izzy, would a pair of T-tracks on either side of the opening in your jig be a better way to secure your templates and avoid turning the jog base into Swiss cheese from all the screw holes. Use T-track that accepts a 1/4-20 nut then use 1/4-20 machine screws to fasten the template to the base.

Hey Izzy, question about how the board approaches the blade. If you dip one side before the other, would it cut more of a straight Cove verse the slight angled one with the humps or dips even? I love your videos and how they challenge woodworkers to think outside the square box. 😆

Not quite convinced that this jig is, or would be, a valuable addition to a shop. The application would seem to be limited to short boards and I don't know what they would be used for other than drawer fronts which would, in my opinion, look pretty odd.
