Cutting the piston on a 2017-2024 KTM 300 so the engine doesn't blow up. Cutting the piston is simple. You can use a milling machine, but it is not really necessary. You can use a coarse file to start, and finish up with a fine file. I use Wassner brand race pistons because they are forged, and they won't brake. If you don't modify the stock piston in this manner, you are running the risk of blowing up your engine.
