Great video. Always blows my mind when I see the dust or slurry from cut asphalt. You expect it to be black like tar but it’s always the color of the rocks being pulverized. Very much like cutting concrete.

Next time, borrow the neighbor’s circular saw. 😂

To keep blade from flexing make two cuts. Cut a 1 1/2 first time cut the rest on the second cut

Are there any safety concerns for doing this aside from the obvious watch out for the blade. Can the blade potentially shatter and send shrapnel your way?
@PHL_Brownstone Жыл бұрын
The blade I used is a Dewalt diamond blade 7 1/4” seams to be high quality. I used it on many jobs and still in use. I definitely would not use a cheap blade

Is the cutting portion of this video sped up any? Or did it take you 4 minutes to cut 20 feet?
@PHL_Brownstone9 ай бұрын
No I sped it up 🤣

How many blades you go through? I'm doing 22 ft of asphalt using concrete blades. They cut SLOWLY!

I bought a Dewalt 7 1/4 diamond blade years ago that’s still in use it cut like butter for me

Josh - let me know how you make out. I just cut 1" thick flagstone with a Harbor Freight ($2.99) 7 1/4 concrete blade - cut about a 2.5' length cut with a circular saw. I had someone spray (light stream from hose) water on the blade as I cut. It worked better when I plunged cut it and that's how I'm going to attempt to cut the asphalt. I destroyed 1 blade before I attempted the plunge cut. I have about a 10' section to cut.

Dumb question, would u say this could damage a cars paint if the car were parked 10-15ft away?
@PHL_Brownstone9 ай бұрын
If you can’t move the car you could always cover it with a sheet of plastic, a tarp or a car cover. It’s hard to say but I didn’t cause any damage. I used a better quality blade that didn’t throw chunks or debris. It just cut like butter and threw dust
@johnnyversaci70919 ай бұрын
@@PHL_Brownstonethanks for responding. I would think my neighbor would have asked me to move it before using a big buzzsaw on his driveway, but he didn't and I'm like 99% sure it damaged my car there are a bunch of small paint chips
@PHL_Brownstone9 ай бұрын
@@johnnyversaci7091 that could be from driving on the highway. Did you find a lot of dust and debris on your car after the cutting?

@@PHL_Brownstone I'm only planning to cut out a small section inside my garage. My garage was built overtop of the asphalt driveway. I want to put a water softener in. I am in a flood plane so my basement is basically just a whole in the ground. I do have a stairwell down which is where I had intended to put the softener, on a ledge but there just isn't enough room. On the other side of the wall is the garage so I am thinking of cutting out a small section to put a concrete pad against the house and then building a small insulated room to put the water softener. I have the ryobi 7 1/4 saw, which has a vacuum attachment and was going to use a spray bottle to help keep the blade cool. If I'm crazy let me know. I don't know what diamond blade to get but even the cheap ones seem to supposedly be able to cut asphalt according to the q&a. Here is an imgur link with some photos. If you've never used imgur before it will warn you that there could be erotic photos but I promise you it is just pictures of my stairwell and garage. Up to you to decide if you want to trust me lol imgur.com/a/7yGeJ1K

@@PHL_Brownstone and if this works I might actually just cut out sections and replace the blacktop with a proper concrete floor.
