Rosy demonstrates cutting back Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii
Be careful with this, Euphorbia have highly toxic sap which is irritant to the skin and the eye.

Thank you! Exactly the information I was looking for. I now understand why I’ve noticed so many straggly, leafless looking plants in local gardens. Can you please advise if you prune Euphorbia Myrsinites in the same way?

I have only ever cut the bract off and it rebracts next year i also use the same secateurs for everything and have never had a problem. Ive been gardening with Euphorbia for over 40 years.

Hi Rosie I have 3 Eurphobia wulfenii and they are getting straggly. Can I cut these right down to the ground and hopefully get some new shoots next year from the base of the plant.

Why throw your gloves away? If I get sap on mine, I dip them into a bucket of water and that works just fine.
