That isn’t failure, that’s a negative learning experience. I think you did pretty well considering all the crap you dealt with. When me and my crew had a stretch of hard luck I would stop everything for 15 minutes, pull everyone together and just have a bull session then start back at it with the idea we were starting the day over from that point, it helped, and we usually gained time, but not always, and settled me and guys down quite a bit. Thanks Logger Wade for the ride along sir stay the course, you will win, I have no doubt.

Glad to see you not ashamed of posting in public when you lose it. Normal is the man who blows it and loses control now and again yet brushes it under the table with the broom of truth. You are actually helping some of us others who have a problem of losing it now and then . Thanks a billion.

Failure is bad but, heart failure is far more worse. We want to keep you around. With out you just think how far behind things would be. Using the quote i first heard from you, "IT IS WHAT IT IS". Your boys aren't ready to step up as you did. No pressure
@heatherlane92702 жыл бұрын
You were doing your best - the why of the failure can then be worked out from that and the best is improved. You know that Logger Wade so don't be so hard on yourself. Learn from it and smile.

My dad would say: “The hurrier ya go the behinder ya get!” I have stopped to remember those words once in a while and it’s always helped me out. I’m like yourself and can get myself wound right up!! No one wants to be around when I’m like that becau they know a f*ck up is inevitable if I don’t calm down. They even learned to sat the phrase to me. It would stop me in my tracks,,,,, I would determine if I was doing it again, or if they just wanted to slack a little. It was really almost always me and some time even if it wasn’t I truly believe the little break would save on the injuries. Like someone else has already said,,,, a good 10 - 20 minute bull session, or a few jokes and back to work!!! I learned it wasn’t only me that needed the reset,,,,, the whole crew benefited!!! Sometimes I felt the only reason a “train wreck” was about to happen, was because of me, and that was partially true, but the whole crew gets on edge once in a while. Take a quick coffee break and then get back to it. Always helps regardless.

You forgot the number one cause of injuries and deaths in the woods Tater... Getting angry and wound up. It will get you every single time. Gotta remind yourself that going home to the wife and kids and family is the number one goal. No barn, no nice young tree, no power line... none of it is worth more than you are worth to those waiting on you at home. If the crew is waiting on wood, that is far far better than waiting while you are in surgery. I just lost my brother suddenly, not an accident, but still.. it drives the point home for me. Getting home is the goal. The rest is just an illusion of importance.
@Huntoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
A old logger once told me "if you make it out of the woods then it was a good day"

I became a Taoist monk when I was 8. I’m old now so I hope you won’t mind if I offer some advice. Next time you get wound up, pay attention to your breathing. Take slow deep breaths through your nose. 5 seconds in, 5 seconds out You’ll think more clearly, slow your heart rate and move more precisely. Take care brother

I don't think you will see this, but here is my two cents worth. Getting upset does not work well for you. They fail because they cannot make a hose for you and you get upset. Why don't you have the hose and fittings yourself? I am sure it would cost less if you had the supplies with you on your truck. Have good days!

Relying on out siders for maintenance is a negative move ,with all your machines I would be doing an audit in all the hydraulic systems ,what sizes ,what hoses and what couplings. Every bonus tree you Mill ,set the proceeds aside to build up an inventory of hoses and fittings ,see if you can aquire a second hand hydraulic crimper. Nothing in the type of work and conditions that you work in ,is kind to gear ,getting angry doesn't fix or prevent things happening,unless you have had the eye off the ball ? Because you are to busy ? Have other priorities? You can't afford to have a machine failure,but you can afford to have a strategy to minimize some of the complete failures that end up stopping you from working ,think I like the Loose goose Wade better than the angry beep beep mouth ,just saying 🤗🤗🤗🤗
