[Team introduction]
DD Yosakoi Team is a Yosakoi team based in Kochi Prefecture, established in 2014. Atsuhisa Matsumura, a native of Kochi, serves as the company's representative, and operates from two locations in Tokyo and Kochi.
The team's goal is to "enliven Kochi." For this reason, they create colorful and impactful local cars and costumes, and perform dances with new themes every year.
When it first appeared in 2014, it received the Special Jury Award and quickly gained attention. Since then, they have won gold and silver awards, and have grown as one of Kochi's leading Yosakoi teams.
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the team's formation. To commemorate our 10th anniversary, we made participation free for dancers for the first time. In addition, the number of dancers was 140, the highest number ever, and they presented an even more scaled-up performance.
The DD Yosakoi team is expected to continue to play an active role in not only enlivening Kochi's summer, but also promoting Kochi nationwide.
[Yosakoi Festival]
The Yosakoi Festival is a festival held in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, in August every year.
A distinctive feature of the Yosakoi Festival is that the dancers dance to light music while playing the clappers they hold in their hands. Dance choreography can be freely created and danced to various genres of music such as samba, rock, and jazz.
The Yosakoi Festival is held over four days: the eve festival on August 9th, the main festival on August 10th and 11th, and the national convention and after-festival on August 12th. At this festival, approximately 200 teams and approximately 14,000 dancers will perform at 17 concert halls and dance halls in Kochi City.
The Yosakoi Festival is familiar to many people as a summer tradition in Kochi. In addition, in recent years, Yosakoi has become more popular throughout the country, and Yosakoi festivals are now being held outside Kochi Prefecture and even outside Japan.
