I generally run either a 50cc with a 20" bar, or a 70cc with a 28" bar. The only time I really prefer the smaller saw is when I'm packing it on my shoulder any distance, or I end doing a bunch of work much above waist hight. Other than that, I find the bigger saw/ bar is almost always more efficient and easyer on the back.

Agreed, being safe is the biggest part of working with wood. I dont push my way of not having the gear ether. I definitely encourage its use to people with little experience. Or definitely working in a log deck. . Ive known more people to get harm, or sadly loss of life. from the red alder then most anything else.

You do you David. I feel naked running the saws without chaps. See you in about 1 more month😉👍

Thanks for the comparison David. Seems to be almost twice a quick, which make sense with almost twice the CC's. I guess its just a balance between weight and speed. Man if every log ended up in the air I could buck all day. Its bending over so much that gets my back sore. Cheers from Manson, WA.

Yeah, re: PPE, I had almost the exact same mishap as your young story, except I got a 2 inch scar now on my left leg. Very fortunate those little mishaps are not worse. Thanks for sharing your stories!

Looks like a nice day to be out cutting. It’s a noticeable difference between the 2 but I’d say pound for pound the 550 did a heck of a job.
@jeffvw19943 ай бұрын
Dig your videos, I run echos, have a 40, 62 and a 73 cc saws. Different tools for different jobs. Also have a little battery one hander if I'm up a tree or on a ladder.

Bigger saws are not faster unless the wood and the bar get bigger. Put 23rsp on the little guy and drop the rakers and it will smoke the 395 in that wood until you get aggressive on the chain on the 395, put a big rim on it…
@robmcclure8713 ай бұрын
That 50cc cuts very well. Thanks for the comparison.

These big saws are so much faster that it makes cutting wood fun, and you get a lot of wood done quicker

Hardwood kicks back more than softwood. I run my rakers lower in softwood than in hardwood.

Thanks for another great video. I am on the lookout for a smaller saw for my uncle still, he likes the stihl 311 and I was just curious about your 550. I am like you I like bigger saws with longer bars. I also am not a big fan of wearing chaps and like you I have only knicked my pants once. I am not saying that it wont happen but it does get super hot with them on.Stay safe out there brother!

Have you noticed much difference between saws anti vibe performance? I’ve never thought much about it but now that I’m getting closer to 40 I’m thinking about wear and tear on the body.
