We decide to change the last section of our road which requires cutting in a new section of road. We use our RK24 and skid steer to get the job started.

The bugs are spittlebugs, which are tiny members of the cicada family. They're harmless, and make the foam to protect themselves from spiders and birds. Enjoyed the video as always, thanks!

I will suggest if you leave your skid steer in the woods to make some small porous bags with moth balls or cotton balls saturated with peppermint oil hanging in engine compartment and anywhere a rodent or squirrels Mike try to make a nest or chew on the wiring. I have that problem with my equipment here in South Georgia. I really like your post and the work that you all are accomplishing.

Just remember a Fire Engine has 1 (ONE) chance getting up your driveway incase of an Emergency. They need space to maneuver. You can replant trees if you take out to many. But if a Fire Engine can't get to your house you will need to rebuild it. That is the Retired Fireman coning out of me. Be safe and stay hydrated in this heat. 06-14-22. I love your videos and what you 2 are doing. Have fun.

Hey Tim, since you're a retired fireman, you'll be happy to hear we called our fire department before we even started this project to create a fire plan. They are well aware of what we have here and will send the proper team if we ever need them. Taking it one step further, we will have a water reserve in the vicinity of the house. It's not uncommon around here. There are many driveways with steep climbs and switchbacks. The fire department shared that they would send smaller units made for our type of terrain.

Quick tip. When having trouble getting a skid steer up a slope, go at it backward. The motor makes those machines back heavy, so you are far more likely to flip over backwards than forwards. Going backwards makes it a lot more stable, but also gives you the ability to use the bucket for pushing yourself up hill same as pushing yourself out of soft ground. Doing great guys. P.S. I really don't know how you don't go through a camera every other month as many close calls as make it into the videos.... 😎

You guys are where we're at. We're cutting roads through deep forest, even thicker than yours, except we don't have the rock problem. We made a road that was steep and realized we'd never be able to drive up it if it's wet at all. Truck keeps getting stuck even with 4x4. We made an "S" curve for our second round which will be less steep to get up to the top. It's a lot more trees and work, but worth it in the end. Also easier to grade.

I can see tons of trouble ever getting any bigger truck with gravel up those twisty roads but if your happy then its a deal good for you. Tracks don't just fall off of a skidsteer, something has to be loose or not straight... I know that you have had the tracks off and replaced them, the sprockets don't look bad and the idlers looked tight. Somewhere on that track frame is something moving letting the sprocket not stay straight with the track so it rides over the rubber rail the idlers roll on.

at about 55 min you move the tractor with the back hoe to the down side of the hill,, please dont do that; move the bucket to the up side for balance before moving. Think Safety First - that roll over bar wont help at all in that situation. my little 5 ac is 23 degrees on the lower part, then goes to 40 degrees the 340 ft to the house. wish I had room to do like you guys are doing. Right, and the roots; I like to use a battery saw-zaw to trim them out of the way.

John, are you using off road diesel in your machines? In our area in Pennsylvania the on road diesel is $6.00 a gallon. The off road is approximately a dollar cheaper per gallon. The only difference is that the off road is dyed and I believe that the sulphur content might be a little different but the off road diesel should run just fine in your machines. I run it in my tractor of the green persuasion all the time. Might save you some money. Great job on the road. There is no need to apologize for anything. I personally wait anxiously for you guys next video whenever that may be. God bless you both and your girls. 👍👍👍
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
Hi John. Yes, when the price is right. One gas station nearby has off road diesel, but sometimes it's marked higher than the normal stuff down the road. I don't know how the pricing works from store to store, but it seems dishonest when the red dye is $0.50 more expensive than Kroger's auto diesel. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Now I'm just bitter with that gas station. Haha.
@johngersna32632 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutsandWineberries Wow, I just assumed that the off road diesel was cheaper everywhere than the on road. Well, you know what they say when you assume. 😁 Anyway, I'll be waiting diligently for you next video. 👍👍👍

John, just sitting here watching you pushing soiled rocks uphill, it occurs to me that it would be a lot less effort to drive the machine to the top and create your road by pushing material downhill, using every mechanical advantage available to you working downhill.. Just consider this suggestion, that's all I'm saying. Regards Robin.

The "spit" comes from spittlebugs. The nymphs feed on plant juices and leave the froth behind. The reason you see the froth on some plants and not others is probably just that they haven't gotten to the other plants yet.

Why don't you try making bio-diesel, I saw on line a small machine comes on a 4 foot square pallet you put waste frier out in and it goes though a process and you get bio-diesel out the other end at about 6 cents per gallon cost ( of the chemicals you need to buy).

Brush and trees should always be put to the upper side of new trails and roads never to the lower side it will only give you false hope that you are building over a solid base when truth is even if you can't see it it will eventually faulted trees to the uppers side can always be utilized later on

I still don’t understand your reluctance to run that machine at a higher throttle. They are meant to work! Also, start at the top and work your way down, way easier on equipment. Personally I would have cut the path with a saw, used the skid steer to remove stubborn stumps only, then blade with the tractor or box blade. However, I do love watching your videos whether I would have done it the same or not. You are ultimately getting progress.

Hey Toby, thanks. Glad you're enjoying. I run it around 50% and that's coming from the operator's manual. Takeuchi machines are notoriously jumpy and sensitive when compared to cats and bobcats and I think a lot of guys compare these to bulldozers as far as operating them. It's just where I'm comfortable. Somewhere between 50 and 70 percent is very manageable and I get good results. Not to mention, I have a bit more power reserved if I need it.

I subscribe to a lot of similar videos and I might suggest that you limit your videos to 30-35 minutes. Most videos like yours rarely exceed 45 minutes and even that’s a long one. I was really interested in one in Belgium but they rarely were under an hour. I lost interest and unsubscribed. Food for thought.
