People have to see the success in you before they jump on board. Many businesses fail so a bank won't even give you a business loan until you've been in business for awhile and demonstrated that potential. Seems like the parents here used the same mindset and didn't fully embrace the idea until they saw it taking off.

What's even a bigger miracle is how he had $120 to his name, bought 5 sheets for $119,28 and then the next week he, and I quote "went back and got another 13 sheets with whatever I had left" which if my math is correct, would have been $0,72 😂😂😂

When I get up in the morning and see a story like yours I at 70 years old kick myself for not doing what you have done. Not with the “Man Stand”, but to pursue an idea. So many ideas and no attempts. You on the other hand implemented what so many fail to do and that is: Not being afraid of failure, not worrying about what others thought - you moved forward. What is interesting to me is your attitude is exactly what I thought - in regard to family, friends success, and being blessed. I just retired and was successful I might add, but I admire your drive and attitude. I’m rambling and will finish by saying - “Well Done!” Just remember - it’s easy to get caught up with success and two things come to mind, 1) When placed on a pedestal there is only one way to go, and that is “down” - don’t let folks place you on that pedestal. 2) The toes you step on - on the way up are attached to the ass you’ll kiss on the way down”. I don’t think you’ll have a problem with either as you seem to be well grounded already - probably your parents up bringing. May God continue to Bless you and your family!

Man, the way your family dove head first into this w you is absolutely incredible stuff and reminded me a lot of my family. I also love how you barely slid in the aspect of customer service being time consuming. As a biz owner (Especially in the age of the internet review), customer service eats my time up like nothing else. That said, the way a leader in the company responds to customers will tell you a lot. It is by far the best predictor of whether they will be around a long time or not (IMO). Godspeed to you and your family!

This was a great story, Ryan. Your parents have done a fantastic job of raising you and your siblings. Even though they may have thought you were crazy as a fox (yes, I'm showing my age!) they embraced your success and worked hard to make you even more successful! It's also cool to hear you talk about Dale Carnegie. I went to a Dale Carnegie class in 2001 for a retail company I worked for. Remembering a customer's name is something they'll remember, and can translate into continued business. Keep on keepin' on, Ryan.

I'm not normally someone that comments on videos, but I have to say, you are truly inspiring! I watched your video last night, and I woke up this morning thinking about it. Not sure if it was because it was so grounded, or the family support aspect (which is awesome by the way), or the way you still have people in the team from way back when it started, but it connected. I'm a viewer from over on the UK, I served in the Military for 23years, I have a family, and I am also 'that guy' which keeps pushing things, has an 'idea' that will work, but doesn't get huge. To see your video, to see how it all started, to see how humble you were thinking it was just luck, that hit home with me (obviously not luck, we can give luck credit too much sometimes, it was hard work and dedication). I just wanted to say thank you, the video was so very inspiring, and as 54yr old man, I will keep trying, keep pushing those ideas, and keep hoping ................... because, like you've shown, you never know what's around that corner, but you will never find out if that door stays closed. Thank you for sharing this, Ryan. Stay safe and best wishes to you and family, my your success continue and grow, you definitely deserve it.

Dude that's awesome. Just came across this channel. I'm 7 days a week probably 46 weeks a year. The remaining weeks are maybe 4-5 days. I'm a sole proprietor. I am constantly learning about my trade, and to be quite honest, way too involved in too many areas (landscaping). I'm doing Rennovations, Designs, Mowing, Seeding, Soil Testing and Amendments, Micro Nutrient and similar Apps, Tree Work/Felling/Climbing, Woodwork, Clearing etc... I realized, close to 90 percent of every aspect (outside of physical rest) of my life outside of physical labor these last few years is business related, whether it's speaking to customers, billing, buying, in depth research, power tool repairs and part prices, fixing, organizing or repairing shop/rig, studying plant/soil science and so on.... I continuously get scrutinized for "spending too much time" on milling, curing, rotating, and storing my pieces (as I type, I have about 200 lbs of cherry slabs behind me being weighed down to fix warping. A dozen shelves, various epoxy experiments and display pieces in the same room. Garage, neatly FILLED with cured wood. Outside of front door, outside of firewood, I have about one ton of stage 1 pieces (unmilled/full or half leads). Admittedly, I get distracted a bit too much, but nobody understands the potential. You really caught my attention when you spoke about most of the people in your life, not seeing what you see. Do I expect to be a millionaire from this? No. Will I continuously learn and work until 1 AM getting the very unforgiving mistakes and experiments in? All of the basic idiosyncrasies cf each facet of living tree to finsihed table top, learning the basic techniques while getting word out? Resounding yes. Congratulations on your success. You seem like a really good, humble person. Luck has its station, of course, but this was all you.

The most important thing you said in this entire video was “Treat people good”. That is the key to your success. And remember, If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space! Yours is a great story. God Bless!

This was a super awesome and very well put together documentary. A lot of other KZfaq/ DIY’ers will include something like this in a how to video but the fact that you made it separate as it’s own story was fantastic! Bravo to you and to those that helped you build it and helped it grow along the way!

Rarely watch stories like this, but very glad I saw yours. First off, as a fellow Texan, d@mn proud of you! I LOVED the picture of the red and rust Doberman wearing hearing protection!! Made me really miss mine from the years before I joined the Navy. But also made me laugh at how many times I've heard people say that's a terrible idea when I tell someone an idea of mine that I think might be good. I just always look at them and say "it only takes 1 'pet rock' and who thought that would sell?". And you found yours before you got out of college. CONGRATULATIONS and keep going!!! Oh, and I'll offer this as a combat-wounded disabled veteran (and as an Aggie, you already know this), the military and veteran community would probably be another good market for you. Just sayin'.

I love how your family helped. I wish I had something like that. My mother would laugh at me and say things like "you'll never make it" and "you're gonna fall flat on your face and I'll just be here laughing my butt off at you" ... I've done EVEYTHING by myself without help from anyone. Most of my business' have failed but 1 or 2 have been semi successful. Keep doing what you're doing!!! keep up the good work!!!
