Locs are so powerful, it does something to some people when you disconnect from them. The feeling for some will have a sad but positive outcome. People says It’s just hair, and it’ll grow back, but the time that’s invested, the moments that have been shared with Locs and how they make you feel hits different when it’s time to let them go. I would never reattach them it just wouldn’t feel the same. Embrace the moments and memories because you can’t get that time back that you put into growing them. If you want to keep them, keep them.

I cut my mans locks off after 10 years. He started to cry. Didn’t think I would have to encourage him more than ever at that time. It was for a better life for us (his job). Good for you whatever the reason. 💕💕

I cut mine after 7 yrs. I got tired of fighting the gray hair. It was emotional for me as well. But will be restarting my loc soon. I missed them too much. They were a part of me.

@seresar1574 what do mean fighting the gray hair? I’ve been coloring my hair since my late twenties because of grey hair. I have to color my new growth frequently as my hair grows fast! Been locked for 2 years now… seems like the grey hair is gonna be a struggle!

You slow buddy 😂 you cut them just to get em back shortly after when they obviously gone turn back grey if they were originally ever grey How about Jus stop copying what y'all see on others an live your own life with your own styles likes,hobbies, activities Y'all see somebody doin something an y'all jump to do it jus because... Then wonder why you lost touch so fast Hence You was never in touch because it was never your style you just did wat you seen everybody else doing Locs are not for EVERYONE an not for the weak minded or duplicate minded individuals Jus because u think it look nice dnt mean copy it😂 simply be yourself an y'all wouldnt have them identity crisis problems Keep them cut off your not spiritually connected so you really didn't even know the purpose of them you had no real connection so you'll cut them again wasting your own time Stop growing them just to cut them two years later

I know that feeling... you are committed to change after that first couple snips! For me (59), it was hard to see myself in a mirror. (But I liked my hair in photos). I'm so glad that young ladies and girls are able to see beautiful, natural, strong women like you. Our beauty isn't found at the corner wig shop. Bless you, little sister. 😊

You are very beautiful irregardless tho 👑⚘️ I don't understand why does it hurt so , I literally started tearing up remembering when I cut my first set due to damage of a loctican retightning my hair to tight repeatedly 😔 I'm now back in the game caring for my own locs and four family members Mom , sissy , son , and my own ❤️ Through tragedy came knowledge .

I just cut mines in Feb '23 after having since Dec '15 🥺 After burning them, reality hit and I was sad for a minute. I would cry randomly. Thank you for this. I have moments now. One of the reasons I came across this video, just sitting here reminiscing looking at other ppls locs. I needed this uneasy change and starting over is not as bad as it seems right now. Thank you. 🙌🏾 🫂

I can only imagine your pain. But for those who may be contemplating cutting your locs for whatever reason, make a spiritual wash for the locs you cut off. Clean those locs to wash away every bit of negativity that those locs collected over time. Rinse the locs thoroughly, dry them thoroughly, now store them away safely, then when you're ready to give yourself more length, have someone to reconnect your own locs back where they belong. Hopefully, the unhappiness that caused you to cut them would have been thrown away with the spiritual wash water you used earlier. Good spiritual awakening to you all.

It was my goal when I started them, to have them for 10 years and decide what to do when the 10 year mark came. I cut mine but felt like a new person after. No tears... comfort.
