Half a RF box will be sawn open to show the situation in the Upgrade VELO together with 2 VELO Upgrade pixel modules on the Nikhef Expostrip.
Eight years ago (2016), two half RF Boxes were milled to validate the principle of this production for the upgrade of the VELO in 2022.
The operation is being followed with great curiosity by the two current makers (Stan Heijnen & Espen de Wit) of the new C-side RF Box.
The tricky thing is that the aluminum foil is only ~0.5mm thin. The 'trick' is to use 'climb milling'.
Measurement indicates that this foil is between 0.33 and 0.47mm thin so even thinner than the design thickness of 0.5mm
