I enjoy learning and watching your channel. Man, that circle is flawless. Awesome job on the cuts. On your next one, i would suggest showing us how you calculate the measurements to close the gaps between pavers and how to draw the lines on the paver before it's ready to cut. Not sure if that makes sense lol. Keep making videos. They are great!!!

I have a paver project much smaller than yours. Have never done pavers before, so watching you guys is a great benefit to me. Just got a cement saw today. Glad to see it's what you use too - except this one is electric, & not gas like yours. Hope it will do my small job before burning out. Thanks for the education. My project may not end up as nice as yours, but I learned a lot.

Depending on where you are, you may have to dig those 18" deep. I know around here in Massachusetts, those need to be buried at 18". So that would be deeper than the base stone. At which point you 90 degree it up at the point you want it to come up in the patio

I noticed you were wearing a surgical mask cutting those pavers. While this may help slightly, you should wear an N95. You should try one of the cordless saws. I love the Stihl but the Dewalt and Milwaukee are so much easier in the back. I got the Dewalt for an interior project - never thought I would use it as much as I do. It has become the go to saw even though it’s limitation is the 9” blade.

I have used them a couple times, they are incredible for their size without a doubt. But I love the power of the TS-420. It is a bit heavy after awhile but it cuts through things far quicker.... @TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Ай бұрын
Glad to hear it! Sharing how we do it is my pleasure. I’m not a big fan of the panels… you end up seeing the irregularities in the paver heights because you can’t hammer down the higher ones. Pavers can vary in height up to an 1/8”-1/4” in really bad scenarios… when setting on a bedding material you can hammer those tall ones lower, with panels you are stuck with them sticking up higher. Plus I don’t think moisture escapes through them as good as a bedding stone. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! When ordering pavers like this, the sizes come all mixed together on a pallet. They are sold per layer usually (9-12 sq ft per layer / 90 - 120 sq ft per pallet. Just find a paver style you like and get the square footage you need for the patio. The border pavers get measured by linear ft (the outside measurement around the entire patio). Then depending on how you lay the border pavers in and what size they are, you just do some math on how many individual pavers you need. Most landscape / hardscape supply yards can help with that as long as you have the linear ft measurement. ✌

@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
Thank you, and that’s not a dumb question at all. But it is a little more tricky to do than a just a regular patio on the ground. You will need to have multiple pitches with the middle being the highest point and then have it pitch towards the walls on every side there is a wall. A bit more prep time when setting the screed pipes, but as long as you take your time and think through it, it’s definitely possible ✌🏻

Well done! We do this process very similar. Is there a reason why you don't cut in place? If so, why? Also, wouldn't building the firepit on top of paver be an option? IF not, why in your opinion? Your base should be plenty strong enuff for that small of a firepit. If we assume your not installing a soldier course.
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
Thanks, cutting in place with this tight of a radius is next to impossible with a 14" saw. And I don't like saws that are any smaller, not enough power.... I don't build them on the pavers simply because I think it is extremely cheesy looking.... not a professional look.

Sorry, I thought of another question.........Since you are pie shape cutting the soldiers around firepit why are you leaving such a big gap in between? Also, did you not have the budget to cut every piece for more perfect symmetry?
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
I leave the gap so I can fill the joints with a permeable crushed stone. It helps with surface water drainage and prevents any possible puddling around the pit in the future. I did not want to or have to cut every piece, especially so that they were tight. I want the 3/4" - 1" gap but if I didn't cut them at all, the gaps would have been to wide... So I opted for cutting every other just to keep the joints around that 3/4" - 1" mark.

Silly question but why does everyone seem to remove the pavers under the fire pit and not just build a raised pit right over the pavers?
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
There is a lot of people who do that actually, but it is certainly not a practice the professionals should get into. This is the proper way to do it, aesthetically speaking.... The fire pit should look like it is coming out of the ground and the pavers should wrap around it to hold the pit in its place. When you hire a professional company and they just slap a firepit down on top of the pavers, I would be very concerned how long the job will last for because if you are willing to do that for saving time sake, I can only imagine what other corners they are cutting during the install.... ✌

Why do you cut in the fire pit and do a border on every fire pit?... If you were doing a smokeless insert like a Solo stove or Breeo, wouldn't it look better to build the first course on top of the patio pavers?... Using adhesive to secure to the pavers and using the chip stone for the joints of the patio on the inner side of the pit for drainage?
@TheChristianHardscaper

Thanks for the feedback, I never build my fire pits on top of pavers. It looks very unprofessional to me. I also love seeing a border around the fire pit. Quality is in the details. It is all about doing things people don’t usually do that sets you apart in this industry. Custom work is worth the extra time, customers love seeing cuts like that. @@TheChristianHardscaper I've done the cutting today. The table saw was magically. I think my cutting is near your quality even just the straight line part 😆 A quick question, have you ever been in the situation that the layer under cap is not 100% flat? I had tried my best but there is still 1 spot a little uneven. One corner of a brick is a tiny bit lower, like depth of a sand. Should I put in something (a thin layer of sands?) as a filler, or the glue is enough to flat it out?
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
@@ttzz7868 Nice! 🤣 That does happen every now and then.... Most of the time, a thick bead of glue will even it out just fine. Like setting bricks in mortar to level them, you can use the same concept with the glue. If one cap is high, put less glue on that one and a little more glue on the ones next to it to try and even them out the best you can. When it is really bad, we grind down the high spot with our saw or angle grinder to take it down to even. ✌

Thank you, I have been thinking of some mats lately and probably will make that happen. But the strap on pads rip up the backs of my legs to much…. ✌🏻

Paver Marker from Pavetech. they last a really long time. Can usually be bought cheaper from stone yards. But seriously, they're amazing Halder Dead blow mallet 3LB or 3.5. Lasts forever, the heads, handles are changeable. However, I've been abusing mine for years and haven't needed to change anything out. CH Hanson folding A square, the exact same as the ones selling over priced through Pavetool/Pavetech Dewalt DG5173 Tape and pencil holder. Never look for your pencil again, this has greatly eliminated my frustration big time haha.

I will definitely look into all of those man, I appreciate the recommendations. That’s what community is all about! I really like the idea of a pencil holder on the tape measure 💯✌🏻
