This video shows the process of shortening a long bed frame to a short bed frame for my 1972 Chevy C10.
I used a kit from long shot fabrication. You can find it here:

Hey quick question. I'm having a heck of a time getting my frame stiffeners into the frame rails, like they are too tall by 1/8" and I have to bend the bottom frame rail to get them in there. It doesn't look like you had any of that trouble. Just checking. I'll contact Longshot but I thought I'd put a comment here. My passenger side must have hit a rock and is slightly bent so I'm having to open the frame rail up just a bit but the other side is just fine and it doesn't fit without a ton of persuasion as well and it looks like yours had a good amount of play to get it to line up correctly with the bolt hold and frame. Thx. Mine is a 72 c10 btw.

I was able to slide mine into place pretty easily. There isn't any extra room though, so if yours was high centered on a rock at one time that could cause it.

What size of welder are you using? I'm about to use a long shot kit for my truck

It's 140Amp MIG with shielding gas, nothing special. It's rated for up to 1/4".

What happened with the rear cab mount?

The holes in the jig were 1/2" off from where they should have been. I can't remember if they were too far forward or backward. I measured my parts truck to confirm (I didn't check on this frame before I started) It was an easy fix to the jig. I mainly wanted to mention, in case someone else uses the same jig, to check your measurements before drilling the holes.

It was just the rear cab mounts. Everthing else was correct. It's possible mine was made incorrectly. All in all, the kit saved me a ton of time and I would buy it again.

@@farmingcars sorry for the problem on the cab mount holes. I'm not sure what could of ended up being wrong on the template. I know this video is almost a year old now, but do you know when the kit was purchased? We have sold over 100 of these and have never had a complaint.

@@elong8588 I would have gotten these in December 2021. It's a great kit and made the job pretty simple.
