There is a local logging family around my place that recently got a second hand feller buncher. To bad they only got it after one of the three sons got hit by a falling branch. He now spends all day in a wheel chair. He is now a paraplegic.

Nice straight, tall timber. It always seems to be in the hard-to-get-to places though. Are you gonna get a fancy-pants feller buncher now or something? Those things are nice. Beats lugging a chainsaw around all day. Especially if they have an air-conditioned cab!

Well, every company sets different priorities and does thigs different in this buisness. We usually leave the tops in the woods for hummus, We don't get into pulp. bear in mind thats just the way we do it that don't nessesarily make it right it just our way.

What is the reason behind cutting through part of the hinge? Is it to just to help line up your cuts and speed? I am thinking the tree is big enough that there is still plenty of hinge left.
