If possible can you make a video or give some instructions for how you took the pattern from pdf to the cut in this video?

Hi. Thanks for sharing this. How well does the blade hold it's edge during leather cutting? I cut leather by hand and with a laser now, but this looks interesting.

Hi! Very interesting technique! Do you wet the leather before cutting? Thanks!

The leather isn’t wet before cutting. Just used 3 paths. The cricut has preset for leather, I just used that with a deep cut blade

I think if you use the knife cutting tool maybe you don’t have to do many cuts over and over. Also if you put transfer tape (cricut or other brand) on the mat first and then put the leather on top of the transfer tape sticky side you save your mat from getting dirty with the leather skin rough side💪🏼

The knife cutting tool isn't available for the explore air 2. I think the knife tool is only available with the cricut maker

A nice alternative to a laser cutter. How often do you have to replace the cutting blade? I am sure you cannot hone them (too small) to keep them sharp.

I would love to use a laser cutter on leather. its the next machine to get on my list. Replacing the blades depends on the size of the project however the blades are quite cheap. 100 cost only £10 from AliExpress. Regarding honing the blades, I scrunch some aluminium foil into a small ball and poke the ball around 30-50 times to clean/hone the blade.

Those cuts look great. Can you provide a link to the replacement blades on AliExpress? Not finding a cheap batch of 100...

I have an Explore Air 2. From what I’ve been researching I’ve seen that the leather cutting blade isn’t compatible with my model. I’ve also seen people cutting leather with the Explore Air 2. If it is compatible where could I find the right blade?
@burnishededgeleather60432 жыл бұрын
The knife blade isn't compatible with the explorer air 2, however I use a deep point blade with 3 passes to ensure 3-4oz leather is cut properly. Thinner leather only needs 1-2 passes. I got the housing for my deep point blade from hobby craft. and the deep point blades from amazon or AliExpress. Here is the link the deep point housing blade www.hobbycraft.co.uk/cricut-deep-point-housing-and-blade/601382-1000

thank you for sharing cutting leather with the explore air 2, been wanting to try this. what setting do have your cricut air 2 set on?
@burnishededgeleather60433 жыл бұрын
I have a custom setting with a cut pressure of 270 and a multi-cut set to 3 (you will need to set the dial to custom) its the same setting as "Genuine Leather". you will need a need point blade in a separate housing. Also don't forget to apply transfer tape to the flesh side before sticking to the cutting matt otherwise you'll ruin your cutting matt

I have couple questions for you, I do not know anything about leather, I want to make wrist bands, When i go to Tandy leather store what thickness of leather are you using so that might ask for it, also have you tried drawing onto your leather project with a ink pen with explore air 2?
@burnishededgeleather60433 жыл бұрын
@@tarndt9217 For my SD card holder, I use veg tan leather with a thickness of 1.5mm (3 - 4oz). I havent tried using the pen tool to draw on leather so I cant help with that.

Hello. Can it cut the leather hole too? Like 1 mm hole for stitching?
@burnishededgeleather60432 жыл бұрын
you can male a small 1mm but it wont be perfect round circle. it would be better using a hole punch

Hi. I just stumbled on your channel. PLEASE tell me you can help me with getting my PDF patterns I bought on Etsy configured in a format that Cricut can cut. I am at my wits end. I am willing to pay of course, if it´s a service that you offer.

I often convert PDF patterns to SVG using a vector software like illustrator or affinity designer. Then import them as into design space and scale the template to a size suitable for me
