The detailed "talk thrus" are appreciated, never dry moments. IMO, your the only real logger on here, that just happens to bring along his camera. Stands out amongst other channels! Keep them coming!

Purchased a 395xp last year, I've only ran it 4 times so far for wood over 24 inches in diameter and it is a joy to run in big wood. Mine wears a 32 inch bar so it really doesn't get ran a lot.

Love it. Well done! And agree on the 395's. And a bit of "validation" for what I have done for decades on bore cutting from the front & sides, and last but not least try and put the hinge in the root flare at least away from good wood IF possible. Being old the only thing I do different is leave trigger / hold wood at the back AND a wedge until my hinge is where I want so I'm not under that tree focused on finishing the hinge when it moves...because I'm old and don't move like I once could or you can. Face cut, bore cut front and sides, wedge, finish the hinge, look around snip the trigger and leave is my approach.

Love seeing you cut, so different to rhe usual cuts youll see and i understand why. Also great hearing about the 395 vs rhe 592. Youvw definitely switched me on to 592's but i have a 394, so it's amazing to hear that you still think a 395 is a beast!

Look at the specs on the 395 and 592, the peak power and peak torque are in different rpm ranges compared to each other so the 395 feels stronger the bigger the wood and the longer the bar than the 592. 592 is higher rpm saw. Both fantastic saws and have their place in the woods.

Easy to tell that you really know your way around felling trees! Understand that you are interested in valuable timber, but what (if anything) would you do differently if you were dropping firewood type trees that someone simply wanted out of their yard? Also, what would you do different if the tree was completely or partially dead (assuming you have a safe location to drop the whole thing)? Thanks!
@Good.Fellers10 ай бұрын
Every tree is different so this question is hard to answer. Just be safe is all I can say.

Beautiful spin off the stump. I get excided whenever get to fell beauts like that. I agree about being able to roll it with a choker to get the butt cleaned up. Over the years spur cutting i started doing the clean up while cutting them so i didnt have to worry about rolling it. Instead of one large spur i cut it into 3 sections left right and middle. Have a great week ahead. Another excellent video man! Really enjoyed it.

@justinweaver8107 I’ve got a bunch of 395s and a 592. As far as equipment I’ve got a wide track deere dozer for swamp logging, the old jack and a 648d grapple skidder. I also have a 333g skidsteer. I’m gonna by a 640 cable machine this winter. It’s a better way to make a living then working in town I figure.

Now what's the smallest white oak u take for veneer, like smallest diameter to make a white oak veneer
@Good.Fellers10 ай бұрын
Depends on what you call veneer. Any thing under 16” isn’t really worth much except for staves.

How much do you pay per ft on a tree like that.
@Good.Fellers10 ай бұрын
Depends on a lot of factors, how many trees? Location of trees, distance from the road. Are there any creek-river crossings. Is the land owner a professional acting person. Is there a log yard or will I have to clear one. A lot of variables in what makes a tree worth
@charlesmullins323810 ай бұрын

I sell logs to many different sawmills and veneer plants, also a lot of logs end up over seas. I can in the future try to arrange a trip to a sawmill.

Hi! Been watching your videos almost from the beginning you started to post them. Basically because the differences in technique between US and europe, and also between soft and hard wood. And over here in Sweden, we almost never will find trees the size you got. Where i live, we mostly got spruce, red pine and yellow/white birch. And almost 99% of the work is done with a harvester and forwarder. Of you get curious, feel free to ask! I’ll do myntets to answer!👍 Best wishes from Sweden.
