This video is a job we had to repair two damaged Caterpillar 777 Dump Truck Suspension parts. These are the rear strut suspension cylinder barrels on the dump truck and the truck has been scrapped for parts. On these parts the internal bores are worn out and the outside of the eyes have been damaged after being gouged or oxy cut off the truck. To get the job done we are using our Sir Meccanica WS2 portable line boring & bore welding machine. First we need to repair the outside of the barrel eyes by grinding out the damaged material, welding up and using our 9” inch angle grinder to grind back to shape. The internal bores also need repairing as they are worn out so we get on to setting up and tack welding on the bearing mounts for positioning the line boring machine. We need to line bore out the eye material before bore welding to build up new material and then boring out to spec. The eye is then ready for facing, cutting the chamfers and snap ring grooves. The repair is completed by drilling in the holes for the grease port and cleaning up the surfaces.
In this video we are using:
- Makita 2400W 9” inch Angle Grinder
- WIA Weldmatic 500i Welder
- Sir Meccanica WS2 Portable line boring machine

A hint for Karen (love your work) from my time in IT: ALWAYS make a backup of your files BEFORE you start editing anything. That way, when (It's always when, not if) something stuffs up, you've still got the original to start again with... And work with a second copy when you can... The only thing you lose is time and effort... Learned that the hard way...

As soon as a potential customer watches this channel and realises the expertise being put into these jobs along with complete transparency, they must be just praying something goes wrong so they can send in a job & watch CEE do their thing. I for one, love the idea of knowing exactly what is going on behind the scenes for a job my hard-earned cash is going into. This channel provides so much more than just interest, education and ideas for young adults thinking about engineering. This is appealing on so many levels. Love it.

I have never realised before how much you can do to recover damaged and worn out heavy parts of heavy machinery. You obviously know your trade and have a good working knowledge of all the components you deal with and the bodging and lodging of previous bad repairs. From the amount of work you get your customers realise they are onto a good thing with you saving them many thousands of dollars in them not having to obtain new replacement parts.
