So many things can be done to improve the economy yet politicians choose to push for a questionable/malicious charter change instead. 🤦‍♂️

He is talking with sense. Clearly straight to the point. He should talk infront of the congress, senate and cabinet. But i doubt they will listen to him.

His arguments are very easy to understand and digest. I am just happy that we have the same perspectives, namely; 1. Political instability; and 2. High energy cost May I add, infrastructure as this brings in other things. Corruption, even if it is not ideal, is a reality. Nobody wants and likes it, but it is a fact. I also have the same perspective on economic models e.g. washington consensus. For example, Japan has both public and private railway systems. Meaning, the government can provide an alternative instead of just letting the private sector runs it. As such, if the Philippine government considers agriculture as a priority and of social significance, then, the government should invest in it, regardless of the financial costs. Common sense right? To conclude, it is really a matter of policy and what the government considered important and a priority.

Unfortunately the biggest problem for the past 4 decades is the cost of Electricity is the highest in the ASEAN region, then our data interconnection and Internet network is still 10 years behind compared to our nearest neighbors like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, plus the never ending Communist and Religious Extrimists that is still ongoing since the late 70's, we are still suffering from this including the costliest transportation cost because of poor roadways, disconnected ports between industrial areas and most of all the railways system was left to rot and never expanded towards the Visayas and Mindanao regions!

because the govt surrendered industries that are the commanding heights of the economy. the media also muddled the philippine discourse. they introduced new issues to distract the filipinos on what the long term interest of the philippines

It is al about graft and corruption. The Philippines is like an exquisite car steered by drivers who do not even know how to drive. Solution: 1. Focus on lessening graft and corruption/bureaucracy, 2. Spend money on our strength - agriculture and building the relevant infra/logistics. 3. Focus on industries that add values to GDP. We are a country trying to emulate first world countries without the technology to support it. This people's initiative is one of most non-sensical and stupid move done by the Congress.

Main problem is overcentralization that led to poor infra in the entire country. Overly-focused devt in Greater Manila led to overpopulation there straining its infra, while at the same same only little left to the other regions thus poor infra also. Thats why entire country has poor infra status, unattractive to investors, then theyll blame economic restrictions lolz

Is the Philippine economy so bad? To some sectors maybe so. One thing I would like to point out is that the Philippine media delves more into politics than science and technology. Perhaps Filipinos should be directed to think more about industrialization and technological know-hows rather then political debates.

It's not a wrong analysis. 100% foreign ownership can be a solution to our political instability.pag marami na ang trabaho ang mga tao di muna malilinlang yon ng madali kung gumaganda na ang buhay nila. Meaning,it will produce political stability.Debt default can be prevented if there's a growing economy and growing investment.High power cost can be possibly solved by foreign competition and the introduction of our own nuclear energy program. By the way, during the time of ramos in the 90's more or less the Philippines was in equal footing with Malaysia and Thailand and ahead of Indonesia and Vietnam. If these countries do not allow 100%foreign ownership then it means we still have a chance to beat them and let's beat them. Enough economic liberalization was not really achieved by the Philippines since 1987 that's why we were not able to benefit from globalization in the 90's to 2010's. The answer for our many woes is to open our economy.Of course, this is not a magic bullet ,and we need to work on it every day by applying creativity and innovation and this is the right way to go . Also,if Vietnam doesn't have very competitive power cost it means it's easy to beat Vietnam in this area and do better in our job generation and in manufacturing investment. Im sure we can beat Vietnam,Thailand,Indonesia and Malaysia but we need that charter change before we can compete. Singapore is very small and does not have much areas to disperse their growth because of limited land while the Philippines has plenty of idle unproductive lands. It's apples and oranges. Let's not copy how they did it in toto because dynamics can change and let's be a trailblazer instead.
