Saw this painting on your site. Just love it! You are so great with light & shadow but my goodness your colors are just amazing! Especially the very subtle ones like a street, a glass window on the side of a building that has a reflection on it, & on & on. Such intuitive color mixing!

The value study is just on a normal sketch book page? With medium thick plain paper?

Another great demo by Andy. Much appreciated for the video content, CWA! FYI for anyone looking for the brush that is discussed a few times: It looks to me like that brush referred to as a Da Vinci synthetic is actually a Da Vinci Petit Gris, which is pure Russian blue squirrel. By contrast, the synthetic Da Vinci Casaneo brushes have very dark handles. Any other brush sleuths out there with more info?

There are Da Vinci Petit Gris pure squirrel brushes and also Petit Gris mix with squirrel and synthetic hair available here in Europe

He said he uses synthetic when he goes down in size & doesnt want it to hold so much water.

@@barbaralee915 I realize that's what he says. But I don't think the brush is actually synthetic -- those light handled Da Vinci's are natural hair brushes.

Hey Andy very new to watercolor painting never really have tried it but once or twice but your work is Awesome by the way I know that you said that you admire a certain person for his paintings and the size that he works on what size was that painting

I think he said 7 x 10. He was showing a book & assumed the paintings were large but he was reading the dimensions, yep! Another 7 x 10!

I guess a couple of objects on the left side of the scene are superfluous. The integrity of the composition falls apart. It would be better without them.
