Just a guess here, but I think getting cy to sit down would be like trying to get a feral cat in a cage. Every time I see him he's working on something. He might pause the task at hand to tell a story, but he stays close to the action. You can't stop men like him.

I love Cy's stories. Im 69 and was raised in Amador county. We moved in about '58 and the ranch near our puny house did the same hay harvesting and barn storage. I remember seeing it and playing in the hay loft. They had an outdoor kitchen, chickens, outdoor oven and stone grinding wheel. They had hand pump water well, no tractor and one big horse. The owners main job was working for the railroad so this wasn't done for profit. Just to feed the big horse and the milk cow. His stories bring back memories of what the gold rush area was like back in the 60's. There were cows everywhere. This year my dad would have been 101. Happy new year.
